Deaths can happen at any track, not just the superspeedways. No reason to remove them as someone asked earlier.

Off the top of my head here are tracks with on track deaths in my following of NASCAR:
Daytona
New Hampshire
Watkins Glen
Texas
Homestead

Hard to tell because it’s a grainy video but I didn’t see anyone doing chest compressions.

Depends if they have a helo available. It takes time to fire up a helicopter. I dont know where the hospital is but it could have easily been faster to just drive.

Halifax Med Ctr is 1 mile from the track, by the time you load him and fly 1 minute to the pad, the ambulance would have been at the hospital for several minutes.

Looks like they're setting a press conference on Nascar Press Pass.

No it’s owned by John Henry

John Henry of the Red Sox? He is the "Fenway" owner in Roush Fenway Racing. If so, someone is probably fired tonight from that paper or at the very least getting chew out of all chew out for having that title get into the article.

Worst part so far is the absence of the top hoop part of the roll cage that goes around the top of the door. It's gone in this picture and I've seen another that looked like it was IN his seat

In the clearer video posted they are pitting a neck brace on. I would think if he is unresponsive it would be a load and go situation.

Seems like if someone had been doing CPR they would have had to be on top of him. Hard to do CPR moving that quickly.

NASCAR America is not airing due to the race not being completed until today.

Up close video of Newman being removed from the car

eeeesh. I wouldn't want to see closer than that.

I didn't see anyone doing chest compressions though, like that announcer on the other clip was speculating. THat may be a good thing?
