I wholeheartedly think there needs to be a major overhaul, but judging by the recent moves I just don’t believe they’ll do it. I mean our biggest additions last off-season were descalso and barnette. If they do anything, I think they’ll bargain basement shopping again. I really hope I’m wrong.
On another note, I went to the cubs convention last year and sort expected them to be a little more upset with how last season ended. It was the complete opposite. The talking point the whole weekend was “everything’s ok. we won 95 games and made the playoffs again”. That type of complacency bothers me. It wasn’t hard to predict this season going the way it has.

On baseball reference he's third among hitters, 4th among all players. I feel like Ozuna's WAR is artificially depressed by his defense.

I saw on Fangraphs he’s 3rd. But regardless, it blows my mind he’s that high despite not getting called up until June.

Whats unbelievable, is they are on pace to win the division, and 1/3 the lineup has 2-3 hits in a monthish of games.
1/2 of the other half hit sparsely, other 2-3 hitters are getting on base and no one is knocking them in.
Dejong is hitting .190ish with rISP for the season.
If they even got 3-4 hitters going, they could go deep in playoffs. They have #1 and #2 to match anyone in NL.

Are you saying Hudson as the 2? I love Hudson, another young stud for us that has really developed but I still don't feel super confident in him as a contact pitcher. Wrigley tomorrow will be a good test for him.

While Flaherty is dominating, Hudson is also putting together a really nice 1st season.
Tied-Leading league in wins, and once he stopped nibbling, he's been really good.
They will go as far as the Offense carries them. Pitching is their strength, they need the offense to pick it up.
