Now 2.5 up. Good to see Carpenter finally do something. Gant now 10-0.

Probably. He was considered for a rotation spot in spring training. But he doesn’t have ace stuff. So I’d rather leave him where he is.

Dammit, guess they (Cards) can't come back in all of them.

all in all a pretty good weekend

and I figured that is the story with Gant, but I don't follow it that close, thanks

They were all ofer double digits at one time or close to it.

Drew Silva
@drewsilva
Jack Flaherty has a 0.90 ERA over his last 70 1/3 innings.

not bad for a 23 year old

And Flaherty just lowered the ERA even more. What a run he’s been on.

Bumgarner tomorrow and we've gone pretty cold. Need the bats with Wacha on short rest.

The next 8 games for both teams are crucial. The Cards play the Giants twice more then have 3 games on the road against the Pirates and Rockies. The cubs have 2 4-game series on the road against the Brewers and Padres

If the teams win the same number of games over the next 8, there isn’t a whole lot of time for the cubs to catch up. If the cubs gain a little ground, then they have a 10 game homestand, 6 against bad teams and 4 against the cards.

For those that didn't hear about it, Zobrist lead off for the Cubs last night and still has that God awful julianna version of Benny and the Jets... even though she cheated on him and they're getting divorced. Odd.

If Hudson can become a more efficient pitcher, he could also be another top of rotation, young dominant starter.

He wastes 2 many pitches and ends up with, like today, 97 pitches thru 6.

He's young, maturing as a pitcher will come, but he stops nibbling and throws the ball, he could be a lock at #2 in staff for a long time.

Flaherty was nibbling early in season, wasting pitches, having to throw fastballs for strikes, and was getting hit. He went back to just throwing the ball, using his fastball and slider, and is dominating.

I wonder if it's Maddux who is asking them to be nibblers? Neither were in their careers, till start of this one.
