Great trade for Houston. Excited about this

Love the trade. I guess the only "valuable" piece houston loses in this is Pap? I'm not going to miss any of the guys being traded away. I really don't get how Jones or Monty weren't apart of it.

I don't know how Morey got them to take Dorsey instead of Jones. Dude is a wizard.
I doubt they Jones as a guy they want long term, espeically with Faried. Dorsey and the rest of those guys can be cut or on expiring deals. I doubt any of them stick past this year, outside nic johnson. So they basically trade a protected 1st rounder for Ty Lawson.
Robbery for Houston, but for Denver, it allows them to field another shitty team, gurantees that theyll be bad for another year or 2, allows thme to play the lottery game, and gives them MAJOR cap room going into the new CBA.
I think the FLEXibility is worth the trade in the long run. I expect Gallo to be dealt soon too

Jones and Monty are going into contract years-- basically if Tristan Thompson is going to get 5 years, $80M in this CBA, these guys are going to get 4-5 years $90-$100M in the next CBA.
Are those guys worth that much? I dont think so, so its better to not trade for them and their future cap holds, and play with your cap flexibility. By the time Mudiay is a legit star, they'll have enough cap room to throw top dollar MAX deals at at least 2-3 FAs. Smart move to stay bad and keep your options open

Marc Stein: Fact that Houston had to surrender two guards in Lawson trade, I'm told, enhances chances of Jason Terry returning to Rockets in free agency

Mark Berman: Free agent guard Jason Terry says he is in talks to return to the #Rockets.

I doubt Beverly is happy about this
Their wing positions are interesting --- what is their end goal by having such talent guys (dekker, mcdaniels) as pine riders?
I've always been under the impression that at some point, Ariza, Monty, jones, a pick and someone else were gonna get shipped for the last piece of the big 3

Ariza is getting up their in age. And having young guys ready to step up gives you leverage and/or a back-up plan when negotiating.

He is the ultimate team guy and he's perfect off the bench.

What about Lawson running the second unit as the 6th man?
Would make a lot of sense imo

If you had a true 2nd unit, yeah. You can make your rotations set up that way. Harden plays usually all of the 1st quarter. Lawson can be one of the 1st subs, then when Harden comes out you bring Ty back in with Bev in the same backcourt...Brewer on the wing, or he could play 4 in a small lineup with Capela at C and Thornton at the 3. There's a lot of depth, that's for sure.

I like it, but there will be games that we need Lawson to be the main facilitator. We completely lived and died with Harden last year. He was so valuable to our success. It was rare to win on one of his off nights because it shut our entire offense down without a second playmaker in the back court.

People forget that Parsons was a big part of the offense the year before.
Ariza did not replace Parsons' play-making. Ariza was mostly a spot-up shooter whereas Parsons was great at driving and kicking.
Lawson will return to the offense what was missing last year with Parsons' absence, plus some.
Ariza's shooting percentage will go up like it was in Washington I suspect because he can be better set up with two facilitators on the floor in Harden and Lawson.
Harden had the ball in his hands so much last year because he HAD to with the loss of Parsons. He doesn't NEED the ball in his hands as much as he had it last year. There was just no other option.

Wow. To give up what they gave up its a great deal for HOU. If you're Morey you give up those guys for anyone basically. Hopefully he can get it together while in rehab. I'm sure he'll be suspended to start the season then come off of the bench at first. #clutchcity2016

I like that Bev put that out there to shut people up.
So when the Nuggets drafted Mudiay, this was my immediate post in the thread.
