Dunham and their best 8th grader is playing up on the varsity team.
I saw them after one of the 6th grade games. I don't think there was a kid under 6'1" on that team. They looked huge.

How’s the officiating this year in the league?

From what I have heard the refs are still refusing to CALL IT BOTH WAYS , despite numerous knowledgeable moms and dads making the suggestion all 4 quarters of each contest

LOL. So true.
Why do the refs always favor the other team???

It feels like you could put the top 6 in a hat right now and pull names for the rankings. I can't remember the last time I saw this much parity in the league.
Updated Rankings (Previous Ranking in Parenthesis):
1. Our Lady of Mercy (1) - The Blue Jays won the OLOM Tournament last night with a 2 point victory over CHS. They also made it pretty far in the SGS tournament with a win over SJV before losing to St. Theresa.
2. St. George (5) - After 1 it gets very hard to rank these teams. St. George lost in the SGS tournament final to Dunham and had an early exit in OLOM tourney due to a loss to CHS and a tie with MBS.
3. St. Theresa (6) - The Warriors continue to climb up the rankings being the only CSAA team to defeat OLOM recently.
4. CHS (4) - The Bears made the finals of the OLOM tournament with a win over SGS along the way. They appear to be clicking at this point in the season.
5. MBS (3) - The Pelicans notched a win over SJV to make the semifinals of the OLOM tournament. They have been inconsistent as of late.
6. SJV (2) - The Gators have had early exits in 2 recent tournaments. I expect them to rebound this weekend in the St. Jude tournament.
7. St. Alphonsus (7) - Has had trouble with the top 6 teams.
8. St. Aloysius (8) - Holding steady at #8.

Looking at the St. Jude bracket - there is going to be a good team that goes 2 and BBQ with SGS, OLOM, SJV, CHS and MBS all on one side.

St. Theresa has impressed this year. Currently sit 3-1 in league play as well. They are not playing in the St. Jude tournament this weekend however. They will probably make the Elite 8 tournament this year the way they’re playing.

As much as it pains me to say it, St. George needs to be in the top spot after St. Jude tournament.

This year is so weird. No one is really separating themselves as a clear top team, including SGS. If there is a theme for for this year, it would be "Inconsistency".
Mercy looked poised to ride high all year but got embarrassed at St. Jude. SGS had to fight through the losers bracket at St. Jude but did so fairly convincingly. Theresa plays extremely physical but doesn't have much depth if they get into foul trouble. SJV has the Jimmys and Joes but can't seem to make the X's and O's work when it counts. CHS ended St. Jude with some really lopsided losses after beating SGS in the opening round. MBS started the year as strong as anyone but has really fallen off as the season has progressed.
1-5 may as well be 1a-1e and put the teams alphabetically. MBS is a solid 6 but can challenge if they can get their offense clicking again. After that, the fall-off is pretty drastic. Aloysius, Alphonsus, and STM, are likely to fight for the final 2 spots.

Updated Rankings (Previous Ranking in Parenthesis):
1. St. George (1) - The Dragons have playing great. In the St. Jude tournament they defeated Mercy by double digits, had their 2nd loss to CHS this season, but then came out the losers bracket including a revenge win over CHS to ultimately win the tournament with a 16 point win over SJV.
2. SJV (6) - The Gators bounced back last week with wins over MBS, CHS, and St. Alphonsus before losing to St. George in the St. Jude finals.
3. Our Lady of Mercy (1) - The Blue Jays followed up their home tournament victory with an early exit in the St. Jude tournament. They went 1-2 including an inexplicable 10 point loss to St. Jude.
4. CHS (4) - The Bears remain steady at 4. They had 2 impressive wins over a hot St. George team in the past week, but also had 2 double digit losses against the Dragons & SJV.
5. St. Theresa (3) - The Warriors are holding steady in the top 5 after starting the season unranked.
6. MBS (5) - The Pelicans had a tough draw this past weekend and lost to the top 2 teams.
7. St. Alphonsus (7) - Continues to lose to the teams they should and beat the teams they should.
8. St. Aloysius (8) - I will stick with the Lions at #8 for now, but STM, St. Jude, or St. John Plaquemine could take this spot.

That was an impressive run from SGS at the Jude tournament after not getting out of pool play at the Mercy Tournament. They have a lot of motion on offense and really move their bigs to get them open. It looked like SJV had the size to slow them down. Pretty surprised at that final score. Hats off. When SGS can knock down their open 3’s look out.
CHS is as streaky as it gets. 40+ points one game then sub 20 the next. Can beat anybody though.
Mercy looked like a different team this past weekend. They need a big bounce back week.
Tough draw for MBS. They need a bounce back week also.

And shout out to St Jude for their upset win over Mercy. Those kids play hard and they have a bonafide player that runs point forward for them and does a little bit of everything.
