Not sure why they overreacted and moved the PGA so early. They could have moved it to August and still avoided football. I guess to get out of the worst of the summer.

It was always in August before football aside from the Olympic year. Aside from the FedEx cup stuff I believe they wanted to open it up to more course options. I liked it in mid August personally

I think it was in September, if I remember correctly.
ETA: You were correct. Just checked the '05 and '95 PGAs. They were in August.

the British Open should be ashamed. That winner's check is still a million dollars less than any regular LIV event.
It's not about the check, it's about having your name on the Jug, with the likes of Morris, Jones, Thomson, Hogan, Nicklaus, Watson, and Woods for an eternity .
The R&A does not have the resources of a bunch of Saudi oil sheiks either. LIV is a money thing period.
The Claret Jug means more than another mil in the long run.

Your point is right though, they moved it because they didn’t want to cross the FedEx Cup with football anymore. They could have the PGA when the 3M or Wyndham championship is and still not do that. I’m sure the players wouldn’t like it.
Being open to a wider range of courses in May is cool (and the PGA has been better the US Open the last few years IMO) but I liked the later date more

The fed ex cup playoff is nothing exciting
It was OK till the Saudis bought off all the top names.
Now we are left with essentially the field for the John Deere Classic, Travellers Championship, etc... playing for the FedEx Cup.

Well that’s simply false

There were 3 LIV players in the top 30 of the Open…

The John Deere Classic field and some euros really put it on them boys

“Top 30” seems convenient when 3 more were T33.. so 6 out of 16 players in the top 33… & 10/16 made the cut.
But yeah PGA can take their victory lap for now
ETA: and let’s be clear, 3 were in the top 23 & 2 were top 17.

Not so fast, my misguided friend. The new chairman of the PGA had a secret meeting with the R&A during the Open and looks like they are becoming best friends as well. Money talks, and money walks.

Just imagine if Jon Rahm & Matsuyama already left for LIV

Golf being essentially over in July sucks. I could care less about the FEDEX CUP, and if it weren't for the Ryder Cup, I would be saying adios to the PGA.
So it sounds like you would be watching the same amount of golf regardless of when the tournament takes place. Why does it matter when it takes place if you're only watching 4 tournaments a year anyway?

LIV is now 1 out of 8 in majors since they started?

If you honestly want to count Cam Smith as a win for the PGA, then I won’t stop you

Legitimately one of the nicest people you'd ever meet. It looked like the weight of the world fell off of his shoulders when he sank that last putt.

So if you’re T33 you were in the top 40 players, so yes, there were 6 LIV guys that finished inside the top 40.
That hardly feels worthy of being called the John Deere Classic field which was the point of the person I originally responded to.
