Jay botched the entire LIV golf threat from the get go. His strategy to mock and belittle, and tarnish the reputation of any golfer that threatened to move to LIV completely blew up in his face. He completely underestimated the LIV threat and never thought they’d get off the ground. How Monahan hasn’t been fired yet I’ll never understand.
Who should he have sent out, no one. Players should have kept the insults out of the media. Guys like Rahm and Sheffler, who kick Rory’s butt routinely handled it the right way. Rory ruined his reputation.

golf should have transitioned from tiger to Rory even if he couldn't win as many as tiger but just 1 every other year but he couldn't handle it. I love Rory though. great man. great player

I promise you there are about 50 professional golfers who have a much lower opinion of Rory than they did 3 years ago.
And this is coming from a guy who had Rory in my sig picture here on TD about 10 years ago.

Weird… there are 48 guys on LIV
I’m sure there are about 200 professional golfers with a lower opinion of Phil now than there used to be.
But in general, people tend to like Rory. He’s obviously not Tiger, but I feel like he’s currently the 2nd most popular player with fans in the World, and top 5 in the US (Tiger, Phil, Spieth are also up there)

Oh, I’m sure Brooks talks nice about him because Rory for some reason thinks Brooks is exempt from the stain that is LIV golf while every other player in LIV golf are dirt bags.

Not as much as you would think. Phil is another example of the media all falling in line to push forward the narrative. Phil used to be the media darling and in the last two years it was decided that they must all attack him and finally talk about his off the course issues, which they used to ignore.
