Just thinking about how LSU still probably has a real shot to make the playoff if they hadn’t tripped over their dick against USC. And even if they had finished them off they’d still be the most overrated team in America.

A team shouldn’t be able to get blown out twice and get put in the playoffs but that’s the reality of CFB now.

RIP the greatest regular season in sports.

They’d have 0 chance even with beating usc. No shot the committee lets a team that lost like this in.

LSU doesn't deserve to be in the same sentence as playoff

Not necessarily LSU

But a team with 2 blowout losses and 2 wins over other playoff teams would definitely get a look by the committee based off how the bubble looked

The way the season has been going I'll be very surprised if there are not some upsets in the playoffs.

Stop. Even if there were 20+ teams in the playoff, LSU doesn't come close to deserving consideration. They suck arse and Kelly is a fraud and a bum. We gotta deal with it.

Go back to 1990 and you will find no years where more than 4 teams had a strong argument to play for a title. In most years it's 1-3 teams. It's always been that way. When we look back on this year, it will be the same.

Everyone always knew that the old old system was dumb. It was the central complaint about CFB. We got the BCS and it was a big improvement. We got the first CFP and that was better that it had 4 teams, but the committee was too controversial. They pretty much got the best teams in there, however.

The very first CFP ranking had Moo St #1 - and what happened - they lost immediately to Bama and poof, it was over for them, and looking back no one would ever suggest they were a rightful contender. They weren't. Everything works itself out in the end.

This season will be the same. We may see upsets the first round among teams that are not true contenders, and we will see upsets the second round if you go by seeding, because the automatic seeds are complete idiocy. In the end we're going to see who the best 4 teams were, and it's going to be clear cut.

Go back to 4 teams, use the BCS formula. That is the best method.

If you look at FCS - they have had a varying number of teams in their playoff. Over time with the internet and TV coverage expanding, it's gotten easier to identify the best teams. The FCS champ has increasing come from higher and higher seeds. It's really not hard, after an entire season, to figure out who the best teams are.

The idea that 12 teams is suitable is idiotic and shows us that the people in charge of CFB are idiots and will destroy the greatest regular season in sports.

Bowl games still meant something back then though. Nobody was opting out yet

what are you talking about? A "team that lost like this" will 100% make the playoffs. Just look at the current rankings.

I don’t see another team that lost by 29 at home in a playoff position

That’s a better schedule than Texas has. I don’t mean that as a joke it’s actually rated one spot harder than Texas.

I heard some woman I think from ESPN on College Sports Radio a few minutes ago say if there is a pack of 10-2 teams in the SEC, one that goes to the SECCG and loses will probably be out of the playoffs. Thar is totally ridiculous.

LSU still has a shot to get to the SECCG if UGA beats Tennessee. You’d have a handful of teams all 6-2 in conference and LSU winning the tiebreaker based on opponent’s SEC win %

So yeah, they’d be 9-3 going to Atlanta and would deserve to be left out if they lost in the SECCG. They wouldn’t be in the top 12 anyway and would have to win the conference to get in. Hell, if Army and Boise State win out….LSU winning the SEC may not even be one of the top 5 ranked conference champs
