Say Alabama loses against LSU and finishes second in the west

Clemson and Notre dame go undefeated, Georgia or LSU win the SEC and the big 10 and Big 12 schools all beat each other out of contention.

Who does the committee put in the 4th spot? Surely it's gotta be Wazzu right?

They put Alabama in over Oklahoma St. in 2011. So it is hard for me to believe Alabama wouldn’t get the benefit of the doubt again. Definitely considering the Bama media hype is even bigger than it was back then.

Bama

Leach would be in peak form if that happens

Wazzu. They moved them all the way up to 8 for a reason

the ONLY way Bama isn't in is if they lose 2 games, and I bet they would still get consideration.

Bama is in.

Should be Wazzu because the only ranked teams Alabama will have played are A&M and LSU, one of which beat them under this scenario.

Wazzu OTOH will have beaten Oregon, Stanford, and there’s a decent chance Washington could still be ranked. Their loss would be to USC, which has been in and out of the polls.

Bama would have the better quality loss but their schedule is shite.

Edit - I’ll clarify. Wazzu SHOULD get in but won’t. Bama always gets benefit of the doubt and has won two titles without an SEC championship.

Alabama's schedule is insanely awful. Not the same whatsoever.

The BCS would not have them in over a 1 loss BIG 12 or BIG 10 team IMO.. And now we have a committee who says strength of schedule is very important.

Both the BIG 12 and BIG10 have top matchups left.. Alabama does not..

ND needs to go undefeated to leave no doubt and keep a spot.

I agree it seems they put Wazzu at 8 for reason but I’ll believe they leave a 1 loss Bama team out when I see it. I hope I’m wrong but I believe 1 loss Bama would get in over 1 loss anybody else including Mich, Okla, or OSU.

Washington State's nonconference strength of schedule is the worst in the Power 5.

If Bama loses to LSU and Auburn the committee will still find a way to put them in the playoffs.

I don't see why people ask questions like this. You know Alabama goes in this scenario and WSU is left out.

It's like asking whether an undefeated Notre Dame team goes over and undefeated UCF.

Is this a rhetorical question?
