I wish he'd have 0 callers. Callers are never smart and they ruin radio. And BR callers are the dumbest of the dumb.
Notice SVP doesn't take callers. Besides one line jokes sometimes. Moscona could use a sidekick.. a real one. Not his producer.

Yeah, for a while he was seemed to be trying to be Jim Rome or Colin Cowherd, but he has seemed to settle down recently. As much as I hate him having Mike Detillier on every week, I love Theriot on there, even if all of their discussions are pointless.
Cullotta and the Prince are probably next best, but they lack a little substance for me. I also wish they came on an hour later or went an hour longer so we could get one less hour of Cowherd.

Definitely agree, but he's done a pretty good job of limiting the amount of time that he actually takes calls and the amount of time that he's actually solo. I wouldn't mind him having someone on air with him. Does seem they are trying to push to make the producer involved like SVP and Dan Patrick do. Basically ask them some pointless questions to take up empty air time.

My biggest issue with Moscona is that he seems to refuse to evolve. Come hell or high water, he WILL talk to Mike D for an hour every Thursday, he WILL have Feinswog on every Monday, Theriot EVERY Friday. I'm ok with all of these guests but it'd be much more enjoyable to only have Mike D in the fall and Theriot in the Spring. I really don't know why he insists on having Feinswog on. That guy is the worst.
I've said it before but Matt's show really needs a breath of fresh air. Overall, I enjoy his show but the weekly guests get old.

I'm certainly not a fan of Finebaum and I've only heard his show a couple of times and the Phyllis rants but.....here is what I don't get.
They claim that one if the reasons to drop Finebaum is because it is caller driven which is true and a good call for this market. However, as soon as they tell me that I have to listen to a collective 45 min to an hour of this Gary crap....and Gary didn't even freaking call. That was just as dumb as I-Man and Phyllis.

Sure he has some say so, but it's not like he's calling these guys up and asking them to call in at a given time every week to chat for an hour. It's a marketing decision by the station. If the ratings and ad revenue didn't add up, they wouldn't continue doing the segments.

It's really not caller driven, it's listener driven. The show is largely a comedy show, not a sports show, although they do have a great guest line-up during football season and Finebaum is a helluva interviewer. The callers are just useful idiots to get listeners.
The question is what does a sports talk station put on at 8 every night, ratings are always going to be shite at that time slot.

They claim they are going with mostly live national programming (Sedano at the moment I think in that slot) and live events.

What was the deal with the whole Gary thing today? They overdid that big time. I heard C&P talking about it on my way to work then heard James talking to the Jaguar Journal guy about it on my way home.

So evidently the station took Gary off the "banned" list. He started calling YMD a while back and talking to Culotta and Ponamsky. Matt has been begging him to call for like 2-3 months literally. They even do the Carly Rae JEpson sounder.
Matt got pissed yesterday and banned Gary because he called the Jaguar Journal and became exclusive to the Journal. Evidently YMD guys have been laughing at Gary (shocker) and he doesn't like them now either.
Jag Journal host calls up James today on AFR and claims to be Gary's "agent". He is negotiating "terms" for Gary to show up on AFR.
See how stupid this is.....hoping Matt puts this thing out of it's misery tomorrow.

it's marketed as caller driven but the callers are just props, the comedy attracts a large listening audience who would never call in...the show is not for the 50-60 callers who call in on the average day

Glad it's gone. I think the intent was to have an "SEC sports" radio show, to complement the SEC Network. Never materialized.
I usually listen to sports talk radio, but I just couldn't stand that show. Totally Bama centric with a slight bit of Auburn coverage, but otherwise insulting to the rest of the SEC. The antagonism directed at Steve Spurrier, and sneering at LSU, etc... just a pathetic mistake by whoever thought it would work.
