He hit 0 fairways on the front 9 and shot -3. this is false.

What he needs to do is start faster in tournaments. I know is historical strategy is wait it out and let the other players come back in, but he's going to need to go out and win one instead of trying to backdoor it.

Can you really not piece together that he intended for that to say favorite instead of forever? I'd bet it was posted from a phone with predictive text and he fat fingered.

Outside of a couple of tournaments a year, fairways aren't important. Just hit it down there far and you don't need to hit the fairway.

I don't think people realize how easily he could have won this one.

He was solo 2nd and finished just 2 back... 2!

Meaning the 3-putt on 17 on Saturday and the +3 start on Thursday were all that kept him from winning... or Koepka simply making one or two mistakes.

That's not a moral victory.

Really the only "moral victory" was that we played really well on a back 9, on Sunday, in major, while in contention.

He hasn't done that, since what the 2012 masters?

During his prime he spent a lot of time in the trees. While hitting the driver a little straighter would certainly help, I don’t believe it’s necessary

You don't get to handpick certain strokes to remove, while keeping others.

Yes, he missed a birdie by two dimples of the ball.. but he also jammed in a par save on Saturday that could have cost him another stroke.

He shot a 64 on Sunday, which tied for lowest round of the day. He did everything he could do, and it wasn't enough. Koepka also missed three straight birdies of point blank range on the back 9..

Same for every single other golfer in the tourney except for Koepka

There are alot of retards in this thread

Tiger didnt win

But in the last two majors, only 5 golfers in the entire world were better than him in the Open, and only 1 golfer in the entire world was better in the PGA

That means he can win any tournament he plays in

So those saying he will never win again are simply hoping on a prayer at this point

Let's not pretend Tiger didn't have some misses as well. There is no moral victory for Tiger here. He was in contention basically til the end of a major for the first time in a long time. Some people said this kind of performance would never come again.

When pointing out how close he really way, sure I do.

Which is why I didn't mention his Sunday. His +3 start and the 3 putt on 17 on Saturday cost him the most. Golf isn't a game of inches... it's millimeters.

And he was a bad bounce from going in the water on 2.

Tiger played better than everyone for 70 straight holes. Again, that's not a moral victory because the first 2 still count. But people brushing this off or discounting it as if it doesn't matter is hilariously sad.

Yep. His game is back to a point he can win. If he can find a way to just drive it average, I think it is a given he'll win again if his putting and iron play continue like they are. If his driver continues to be inept, it will be a lot harder, but the rest of the game looks to be back enough that if he gets the right bounces, he can still win another.

I already find it funny that people are "celebrating" his 2nd place finish... as a failure.

The response will be tailored to the tournament:

Regular PGA tour events - It was a weak tournament field, of course, not a major

WGC event - Small field

Players Championship- not a major

Any tournament he has won multiple times - He can only win on certain courses

The Masters - weakest major field

The Open Championship- St Andrews isn’t a tough test, he’ll never win a US Open

PGA- PGA shouldn’t be a major

US Open- Pebble doesn’t count , he’ll never catch Jack(this one applies to all events)

Exactly. What does he shoot if he hits a few of those fairways? Difference between winning and losing.

10 yrs ago nobody was hitting 350 yd drives in the fairway. Tiger has to swing out of his shoes to hit 320, let alone straight.
