I think I heard people on this board tout Celsius for higher deposit rates, does my memory fail me?

Oh, I'm sure you did.

You won't be hearing from them about what's going on, of course.

Luna Part 2 - looks like somebody made off with billions upon billions at Celsius.
Luna- Do Kwon is a 3 time con artist that has scammed tens and tens of billions.

You remember correctly. Hasn’t been that long ago. Several weeks maybe. There was one character in particular who would tout his outlandish returns on Celsius whenever someone would ask about a safe place to stash free cash.

Those kinds of returns didn’t make sense or seem safe to me, so I made a comparison to the notes and “CDs” offered by Stanford Financial Group years ago… and got downvoted. No skin off my big toe. I was just trying to point out the inherent risks when any investment is paying WAY above market yields.

Will Voyager suffer the same fate?

Who do you buy BTC through to hold your own keys?

Will it? Who knows. But Celsius is currently showing none of them are safe. I'd get my shite off Voyager ASAP

Buy BTC on exchanges and send it to a cold storage wallet

If they haven't already. It's like during the boom there was no story ridiculous enough to be printed. The NFT shite has to be the most absurd, but there's lots of competition.

I don't actively use Voyager but I used to. I keep up with them.

I remember reading they have been working with the SEC and US regulators a lot laying important ground work for US investors.

Worth keeping tabs on them if they can get some kind of process/deal in the works.

It was a red flag with Celsius just pulled out of the US.

So how do you avoid the negative impact of the conversion to usd from drops like today?
Just hope that it all evens out ?

The same way you do with stocks and stock dividends.

Huh?
Not sure how this relates….

To clarify- Jjdoc was posting about how he gets paid for work with cryptocurrency (not sure which one) and then he converts it to USD. I asked how he dealt with days like yesterday when the conversion is hit with a big down day.

Stocks are not designed to be a currency. I suppose someone could get paid in stocks but I certainly would not allow that in my company for my employees nor for myself.

I’d really like to hear from jjdoc about how he deals with it.

Many companies include stock as part of their compensation package. That is incredible common but typically it is not 100% of your package.

I think you’re confusing savings plans (401k) with compensation but Let’s say you’re right (which I don’t think you are) and a company offers to pay employees wages in stock- would you accept that as payment?

I have received RSUs from my company which are not in any 401k or retirement vehicle. Go do research on how the tech industry compensates their employees. Their salary is generally not that crazy but their compensation can be quite high due to high amounts of stock grants, RSUs, options, etc. Most of the time there is some vesting period but it is not tied into a retirement or tax advantaged account. Whenever you see tech people discuss compensation and consider job opportunities the stock portion is always discussed and in consideration due to how much of an impact it makes.

30% of my total compensation is in stock. (60% base salary, 10% bonus)
And as you move up that stock % gets much higher. I think our CEO is like 10% base salary.

Yes it is incredibly common in tech startups. They will even include stock as compensation when private, and when they go public the team members are rich on paper.

You wouldn't. What difference does it make if I would?

Would you put everything you own into one stock? No?
Yet that is exactly how Gates, Bezos, Ellison, Walton, Allen, etc. became billionaires.

You say you'd not take your salary as 100% stock. Yet that is exactly how Musk became the richest man on the planet.

Odell Beckham took his salary in BTC. He got burned badly. In a different year he might clean up. It is what it is.
