I'm a long term investor.

I'm thinking about going half cash to lock in some gains.

That’s the easy part.

The hard part is getting back in. There is a shite ton of research that says you’ll (retail in general) time it very poorly.

Don’t do it. The minute you go cash the market will hit all time highs.

Why? I don't need the money for at least 30 years. I can guarantee that the market will be higher then than it is right now.

He probably is trying to improve his immediate lot, not wait 30 years

You wanting to cash out determines this is a lie. If you're long term, don't worry about these fluctuations.

Now, your short term trades are totally up to you. We don't know what's in your portfolio. Not every stock is red, there are winners these past few weeks.

O&G.

I’m actually up overall this week thanks to some large O&G positions.

Long term investor who has a lot of runway ahead of them should only be considering selling if-
You want to sell a stock to buy another or
You need the cash or
There is a tax strategy in play

Otherwise, if you’re looking to sell now with the intent of buying back in later, you’re just spinning wheels.

Yep. I have big positions in EOG and MTDR. They've been good to me

I think I’m going to delete the app for a week. I can’t keep looking at this everyday. I don’t need the money and am down about 30% from my total ATH, but still up over money places in the market and what I can currently have invested. I don’t have any quick profits to take anymore. I don’t necessarily need the money but I sure as hell don’t need to lose it.

I think I’ll just step away and hope for better days. My attempts at catching the falling knife where fruitless. EVERYTHING I own except one SPAC is in the red again for the 3rd consecutive day.

I think Palantir doesn’t actually exist. All shares going to zero and we’ll never hear from “them” again
