I left a job right before Covid and moved my 401k and left it in cash because I was busy with the new job.
Assuming you are under 55 wouldn't this incur taxes and penalty?

He may have moved it between qualified retirement accounts but had it within cash in the new one

Does anyone know someone that became a Dogecoin millionaire?
Definitely not a millionaire, but I bought like $75 worth with extra cash in Robinhood and sold it for over a grand

I put $25k into 1.2 BTC and a bunch of shite coins in like 2019. Worth about $160k now. Not life changing but good. Wish I had done 100% BTC lol.

Bought CELH on 2/20/25. I guess that’s about the ONLY lucky thing I’ve done investment wise.

Bought a 2020 Chevy Trailboss for 33 grand just before Covid. Crazy price right. 4 door 4wd trail boss for 33 grand. Hated that truck. Sold it a year later for 54 grand because no one had inventory. Nice little bonus

Don't know if lucky, but a quick flip.....
Bought a house at sheriff sale for $75,000. When I went by to inspect it, the neighbor came by and offered me $100,000. She wanted a place for her daughter.

I’d like to respond to your response with a statement and a question:
1) Statement- this is my cost basis based on many purchases starting 2 years ago through last week, an average. This cost basis is a “triple” based on today’s Bitcoin value.
2) Question - what’s your Bitcoin cost basis and what do you consider impressive?

I was going to acquire Anacott Steel, but after I got some inside info on Blue Star Airlines, I loaded up on call options right before the FAA cleared them.

This board was an amazing place in 2008. I bailed early partly from what I read here. Then on one day of absolute craziness in the market Jersey Tiger said to load up on a Nuveen municipal bond fund because the price had crashed because big players had had to liquidate to generate cash. It seemed too good to be true but after about an hour of digging into things I loaded the boat with it. He was right. In a year the fund had more than doubled, and was still paying over 7% interest. I guess it was not lucky as much as right place and right time. 2008 was insane.

One of my first short term sales was Nicola in the 12-13 range. Sold it in the mid 80s.
As for worse…buying MSTU in the high 14 range. Went up like 10cents and has been down ever since. With the way 2x etfs work, I have no clue when it’ll go up enough to make my money back.

In 1999 or 2000 (I was in high school) I bought into some pork belly commodities. I didnt know what the hell i was doing and when it was explained to me.i was freaking out. A hurricane hit the Atlantic seaboard and killed 200,000 hogs and saved me

I wish I would've been around. I joined a year later, but I did take my $5k tax refund and buy AAPL. Been such a great performer for me. Even with all the purchases in the years since I'm still up over 1,000% on it.

Made a bunch of money on NBIS off of advice
from this board a week and a have ago. Sold 50K of Lilly to make the purchase lilly tanked a 100 dollars a share two days later and NBIS took off.
the other one was XRP crypto at the 1st of the year tripled my money, could go much higher.

Made a call-out on this board that Sofi at $6.50 was super undervalued so I bought a lot about a year ago and it's up 235% to $22.22 since then.

I unknowingly flew back from Key West with 50 kilos. So if I ever come across a large find like yours, at least I know who can cash it in for me.
They got a kilo out the night we got back. First time I'd ever seen a kilo in person. Asked where the hell they got that at and they both smiled and said, "Under your arse!". That is the last time I flew private with those two. Fun trip though.
