What types of things do you eat for dinner? Curious how everyone deals with food prices.

Just wondering how everyone is doing with the high food prices.
I eat a cooked dinner every day of the week. My significant other and child do the same for the most past. They might get chick fil a or something for lunch on Saturday, but for the most part we never eat out.
Grocery bill has just been absolutely insane lately. I’m wondering how everyone else is handling it. Do y’all just eat hotdogs, chips, and cereal, or do you just suck it up and pay the high prices like me?
We try come up with new meal ideas each week, but a typical week might involve meals such as: breakfast, Asian, burgers or Panini's, fajitas, shrimp & grits, etc.
I use the rocket money app to keep up with spend in every category, and groceries are always the biggest spend.

Chicken
Hamburger meat used in different meals. A big tube at Sam's will be cooked up and frozen will make about 6 or 7 meals. Stuff like tacos and spaghetti.

dinner chicken breast + salad
lunch usually chicken wrap
If i deviate that it will be chicken fried rice. It's cheap and helping me cut. More of a fitness thing rather than a money thing though. I will say the cost of chicken went from 1.89lb in 2019, to 3.31lb now. Lame.

I eat mostly only beef, pork, fish, and shrimp as my meats. Some fruit for sweetness and fiber. I try to eat out as little as possible since prices are so high. I'm not going to deny myself good meals at home and I bring them to work for lunch.
I WILL NOT EAT BUGS!!!

Meal planning has become essential. Really trying to limit waste. For example, a 5 lb bag of potatoes I can use in two or three different meals. So if I buy a 5 lb bag... we are eating potatoes in 2 or 3 meals that week.
I'm buying and freezing more bulk meat, chicken, etc. My wife has a mental block regarding "tube ground meat" but she's fine with the 85/15 meat at sams that's sold in a 5 lb or so tray. So I can buy that and get 4 1 lb or so packs that I freeze. Nost of the meals I use that have ground meat use 1-2 lbs.
Same with chicken breasts... the big pack at Sams will provide chicken for multiple meals.
We also go to a meat market outside Picayune every 6 or so weeks and get things like stew meat, pork chops, sausages, cube steak, etc.
I've also started really paying attention to grocery ads. When I see meat on sale, I stock up and freeze it.
We go to Sams every other weekend and I'm buying more stuff there such as cases of pasta, bags of garden salad, fruit, etc. We also buy most of our household supplies there - toilet paper, paper towels, detergents, etc.
And so I'll sit down every Sunday morning and meal plan for the week. This is at least partially based on what's in the freezer / pantry. I'll make a list of the items we need that I didn't get in bulk, and go to the grocery to get them.
But yeah... prices are up. At the beginning of the year, my monthly budget for groceries and household conumables was $800/month. It is now $1,150/month.
2 adults... 2 daughters aged 14/11.

I grew up in a family that was poor. Generic everything, etc.
I decided long ago that I work hard and while generic is fine for some things, I'm going to eat name brand if I want to, I'm going to eat well, and I'm going to use good toilet paper.

Skipping breakfast.
Because of shitty time management, not price :lol;
But TBH I’m cutting eating out / ordering to-go by 50%. If I don’t cook, I don’t eat that night. Re-training my habits. So it’s a start..

Drug companies bring food for one of my offices every Wednesday. I take the left overs home on Friday. Lasts several days. Got to survive man.

I eat mainly meat. I use the Flipp app and look to see what’s on sale.

Seems like you're eating fine. Run along, clown.

The struggle is real. I try my best to feed my family whatever is on sale, but we are feeling Democrats' inflation big time.

We get most of our meat from Sams Club. They have "clearance" meat, stuff that has to sell that day for 25% off and they have some most every day. That's the beef I buy now.
They still have decent pricing on chicken and pork. Grocery stores like Kroger are way higher, so don't buy much meat there.

We have actually been eating out more.
Grocery prices have gone up a lot.
Restaurant prices not as much.
Overall, the budget is a good bit higher. But I think it is within a margin of the new grocery prices for a meat and 2 sides meal.
And we still have leftovers.
We buy clearance meat at the grocery store. But we always did that. Clearance determines what comes home and ends up on the table. Last night was a turkey breast wrapped in bacon dish ready for the oven ($7 for 2 pounds) with a side of zucchini and leftover of macaroni from Thanksgiving.

2 Days ago I bought a Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad and a Medium Coke Zero from Whataburger. Total was $14.50.
I beg to differ that restaurant prices haven't increased.

We hit the sales of Protein pretty good and cook in bulk..
We make large batches and freeze them in daily containers. Take one out at night for the meal and have many days in the freezer. What ever had the best sale is what we will eat more of. We do buy quality protein not the fatty cheap stuff. Rarely do we eat out of the house. It's usually a cheat day and when it's gone we are done with that for a while. Last one was a $10 pizza from Costco. Our regular pizza order would have been $3oish.

We buy meat in bulk on sale and portion out for freezing using Foodsaver. I generally cook 2 large meals each week and dish in meal prep containers. We’ll typically get bbq or make pizzas one night a week. Costs are definitely up, but we focus more on minimizing waste than budgeting.

What was it before (I've never been to whataburger). $14 is the price point at 5 guys for years. It is the price point for a salad and drink at a family restaurant for years. Lettuce is stupid expensive.
I eat at a family Chinese restaurant for 5 people at $58. Includes 5 meals and an appetizer.
Pizza at Costco hasn't changed (yet). $10 for a full pizza.
My kids are now teens and like sushi. Menu hasn't changed.
Prepared fried chicken at Publix may be 10% more expensive ($0.80) but I honestly don't notice that.
Mexican restaurant for 5 is $65 and includes queso. And we aren't price shopping the menu for deals.
I don't think we are hitting the same restaurants.

6-7 days a week, 1 meal/day with snacks (bananas/blueberries/nuts/jerkey, etc..) :
- Spinach Salad (cukes, tomatoes, serranos)
- Green vegetable
- Protein
I eat out maybe a couple of times a month. I know I'm paying about 30% more than a year ago but I haven't changed any buying decisions. I get a quarter share of a cow every year, chicken I buy at Harmons, seafood I get through Wild Alaska Salmon or another vendor. I view food like I do bedding. You spend 1/3 of your life in bed so I get quality stuff. Same with food, it keeps you healthy and I like quality protein. My vice and indulgence is hard candy which I inherited from my Dad.
