To shut down the border. Trump isn't concerned with jobs/outsouring into Canada like he is with Mexico.

No company is saying "I'm gonna shut down production in the US and move to socialist Canada, especially after what they did during Covid"

The play at Canada is around the border and immigrants using Canada as a jumping point into the US.

What's the gain? He wants to stop fentanyl? We're going to ruin our economy and the economy of other major trading partners to stop the fentanyl trade and secure borders? Really?

Bourbon manufacturers here are complaining on TV about it. They got state tax cuts last year, and make billions in profit. Kentucky needs a governor who will tax the bourbon industry.

settle down dude
you correctly noted that the 30 yr war on drugs has not only not solved the demand problem but has actively made it worse while destroying the stability of our largest trading partner and exacerbating the very real issue of illegal immigration…and setting trillions of tax dollars on fire

you tell me then…what’s the answer? What can we do that would reduce the illicit demand from illicit markets with absolutely no control over product quality while simultaneously reducing the corruption and corrosion inside the country where both of those illegal invasions are coming from?

end the war on drugs…immediately. You want Donald Trump to change the way we do things right? Start there. Disband the DEA. Deschedule cannabis, cocaine and opiate derivatives. Take those trillions of dollars saved and offer 12 month acute detox care for anyone who wants it, and require it for anyone convicted of an ancillary crime. Develop the finest public health program the world has ever seen to reduce the demand for addictive drugs.

etc…

these problems are solvable. But they are only solvable by the party that actually has the problems, which is us

America first

Oh..you are one of those libertarians who thinks utopia exists.

It's such a dumb argument.

We do agree on ending the war on drugs, though. The rest of your post is Narnia fantasy type bullshite.

Why are you so emotional right now instead of having a discussion? Why do you argue like an illogical and emotional woman?

I’m not sure why you are so cranky but no…I am not a utopian. I’ve seen that movie

so help me out. We end the war on drugs. Then what? No additional work required? Schedule 1 narcotics remain available only on the black market? How does that solve the demand problem or even attempt to solve it?

Yea totally. The war on drugs has been so successful the last 30+ years at reducing the demand so let's keep doing that.

I will say that I personally don't care if someone wants to do drugs. My stance has also been a bit libertarian regarding that and I have always said that as long as they don't suck up taxpayer resources nor cause harm to anyone else, then people should do all the drugs they want.

Your suggestion is a huge tax burden and strain on an already strained healthcare system.

I truthfully have no idea how to lower the demand nor do I understand why we have such a large drug dependency compared to literally every other country in the world.

It's a cultural problem more than anything so how do you solve a cultural problem?

I cant believe people are still this ignorant about what Trump does. There is no Mexico tariff.

But is he? Stock market up substantially after he was elected and his nomination for Fed who has made it clear where he stands on tariffs.

Playing the game before in office and already getting results and convo going.

Nobody with a brain thinks he's actually going to level across the board tarrifs on Mexico, Canada, and China. Its all a negotiating tactic to get their attention and get what he wants.

They wont do that since the money laundering operations were basically the largest campaign donors this cycle.

Repeal citizens united, outlaw PACs, and end lobbying. That would help

with cultural solutions using capitalism and the free market as the accelerant.

the healthcare system (and the legal system and the immigration system and the law enforcement system) is strained because of the lack of intervention on our side, not theirs.

and yes there is money to be made by treating the problem we have and not demanding others do it for us.

It took Trump just 12 hours to stop another zombie caravan of illegals and he is not even in office yet

Stoping more invaders will do more for wage growth for Americans and spur the economy but people like mmmmmmbeer are mad that Americans will make more money because he might have to pay more at Walmart for his avocados since the farmers can't hire cheap slave labor anymore.
