Whatever you are thinking of, if you give it 6 - 8 months, you will have a whole new slew of HIGH CLASS cars slide into your affordability range.

You asked for best looking. Not dependable, cheap to own, etc. So, I is really hard to beat an AUDI Coupe for looks, an F-Type has the best soundtrack, a BMW M is probably the best all around you will find.

I bought a BMW X5M right before Covid, not a single problem, and I smiled for 2 years, wife has a shite eating grin on her face every time we get in it because of the way the car makes you feel.

Maybe, but we’ve been hearing this for almost a year now. LOL

I've got friends who have had cars on order and were going to have to pay HUGE dealer mark ups and those have all but vanished for the cars they are going to be picking up.

Love a good anecdotal story and a small isolated situation to apply broadly to the general population. Normally works out well.

Get a used Lexus es350. Toyota reliability, all the bells and whistles and you could get two or three of them for the price of a used truck. Basically the same as an Avalon but much more available.

I have a friend who scared me off VW because of the problems he had with costs of parts and maintenance.

Do you feel like those issues are improving?

Get a 2007 truck. Before computers etc. comprised the whole car. I just had to pay $1800 on my accord because a stinkin VSA module malfunctioned.

For a middle class family, reliable and affordable are the most important factors.

Just don't cash in that good will while you're driving! If you've ever seen the movie "The World According To Garp" you'll know what I mean.
