I’d have to think if ARKK dips below $100 it’s just gonna keep on sinking to $90. At $100 it would suggest to me that the investing public has moved away from Tech and she’ll be at a point where a liquidity crisis is well underway as people sell their shares and she has to sell her own positions to cover the redemptions.

Full disclosure. I sold my entire ARKK position at $126. I’m a hard pass on any future ARKK purchases. No indictment of Woods or ARK.

Just my own reeling in of my portfolio to a more disciplined Index style portfolio as opposed to hype driven speculative investing.

I bought it at $50, then sold 1/2 at $150, wishing I had sold it all I'm thinking about bailing on it now

Just me; but, I’m putting in a stop loss to sell at $100. If it executes you still averaged a gain of $75 a share and more than doubled your money. Pat yourself on the back.

I don’t think it sees $150 a share again in the current calendar year unless Tesla goes gangbusters. With the semiconductor chip shortage I don’t see any way in which this happens.

Morningstar analyst take on Woods/ARKK from 3/31, these moves would not give me good feelings, her current support staff seems extremely inadequate to handle potential negative scenarios:

quote:

Such analysis is complex and nonessential for most of this strategy’s rivals. That’s because the typical long-only equity strategy defines its risk limit and stays within it, for example, by anchoring its sector weights to prevent extreme sector concentration. ARK has few portfolio construction parameters. It has said it will generally invest no more than around 10% of ARK Innovation’s assets in a single company (it has adhered to this guidance) and no more than half of ARK Innovation’s assets in a single technology.

To be sure, ARK makes no promise to diversify its portfolios, and it tells investors to expect volatility. But even a high-octane strategy like this one should be cognizant of the risks embedded in its portfolio and manage to a definable risk tolerance. It seems not to. Indeed, on March 29, 2021, the fund removed prospectus language limiting the size of its top positions and its ownership percentage of individual companies’ shares outstanding.

Blind to the Future
The portfolio has become less liquid and more vulnerable to severe losses as its size has swelled. In the 12 months ended February 2021, the ETF’s assets under management grew more than tenfold to over $23 billion. It has retained and grown its stakes in small companies that are now much more difficult to sell without materially impacting their stock prices. Across all U.S.-domiciled funds, the ETF stood out in February for having the most concentration in companies in which it owned 10% or more
of floating shares--that doesn’t even include additional vehicles tied to the strategy, which combined amount to another $15 billion.

Her past work at AB is unimpressive, she may have gotten it right by being lucky in the most recent market scenario but will she remain lucky? Basically a one person shop currently.

I’m nervous about her holdings if the fund implodes. By definition she has substantial holdings in a few small caps. Given the current state of FSLY, COIN, PLTR, etc…a liquidation of her holds could start a death spiral for any (and the hedge funds will then really bring the pain)

Yeah would not be shocked to see ARKK hit $85-90 today.

Remember when everyone on this board was talking about investing their entire holdings in ARK funds.

If it gets below 50 might be the time..

It’s been interesting to watch so far. Immediately opened below $100 and the Bulls brought it back to $103 in no time. Let’s see if the momentum holds and we’ve reached the bottom.

I’m sure the news that they’ve lost half a billion in investment already in May is weighing heavily today.

I have been waiting for 100 to buy more and was able to grab some at 99 at the open today. Let's see if that was a smart move

Up 3% for the year.

Really solid month and a half though. Not much news behind the rally other than rates stabilizing, but they have been stable for twice that long and ARKK still fell for the first half of that.
