Further confirms the ransomware angle. They must be completely locked out of their workstations/network.

Usually they tell everyone to unplug their Ethernet, and send everyone home until every PC wiped.

With the number of successful ransomeware attacks the past few years, it’s most surprising how long it’s taking OTS to resolve the problem for such an obscure department.

…To pay or not to pay, that is the question

Great job Governor Landry in deciding it’s best to just pay the ransom and move on with life. Ha!

Now the ball is in our court to leave the money there or move it to different place.

The site seems pretty secure. It even has a captcha confirming you aren’t a robot

It’s not the site’s users that pose the problem. It’s always the state’s contracted vendors with remote access.

Yep.

What is everyone doing? Staying put or moving their money out?

I haven’t been able to verify but Chat says that if we move the money out, we lose all the earnings enhancements. Not just ones in the future but ones already accrued. I’ll need to read something official, but I will reluctantly leave mine in place if that is true.

Is there an easy place to get to that shows what the total earnings enhancements are? I know I’m getting the minimum.

Yeah, this thread, Facebook, and that Fox News article are the only places online that are talking about it. Nothing on Twitter that I’ve seen. Found these links but they just regurgitate what we already know, which is basically nothing.

What this tells you is the type and quantity of people who invest via a 529 vs the people who don't.

If you log in on the website and go into each individual account, it breaks down the balance by deposits, earnings enhancements, etc

It doesn't appear that earnings enhancements is a large sum of money (at least in my case) so I'm definitely considering moving the $.

As best I can tell, this thread is the most useful source of information on this incident.

This seems correct, and this whole saga is insane. I'm shocked it's not a more popular topic on here elsewhere.
