Selling a Rolex - best & safest way to sell it?

My Rolex made and model has had some appreciation the past few years and I am interested in selling - at a certain price. However, finding the best method to sell it is daunting. Anyone have a secure method? I am honestly seeing eBay as the leading option which is wild to me.

DavidSw, Bob's watches are well respected. You won't make as much as selling direct, but it's almost risk free selling to a respectable reseller.

If it was regular gold Id make a fair offer

Definitely understand that. I have tan/olive skin and yellow gold to me just doesn't look great on me. And silver is bad on me.

Bernard Watches out of Austin is a decent buyer. They'll have better offer than the big places like Bobs. I've tried to do business with them 4 time but never came to terms buying, selling, or trading, so take it for what it's worth.

Yes, I cannot see it possible me even getting my money back without a private sale. I understand a store has to win the negotiation in order to be profitable, though.

Both will low ball. I'd avoid especially Bob's who will take your watch at one price then email you and say it needs service, polish, etc and try to knock off money.

I posted on GrailZee and we will see. Not much on seller's fees, but 5% on the buy...so a $2-3k tax on the watch. No different than buying it retail, but still a hit on sales.

Ebay.
eBay takes a larger cut as well.

One thing people don't tell you about buying luxury watches is how hard they are to sell. They are a huge PIA to sell.

Yeah, we will see how this plays out. The taxes you're paying on both ends suck. A private sale would be much nicer for obvious reasons.

You could try places like the Rolex or Omega forums, but they may require a history.
