I bought a car in Louisiana in 2012, moved to Texas in 2013. Paid the car off in October and still haven't received the title. I called Capital One, and they said I had to contact the Louisiana DMV. Louisiana has electronic titles, which I thought would make this process easier, but apparently not. I plan on trading in the car soon, and was wondering if the dealership will take care of that, or if I need the title. If I need the title, how do I obtain one?

I tried. I was on hold for 20 mins and hung up. There has to be an easier way.

Call the dmv office in abbeville at like 8 in the morning. They’ll answer because they are never busy.

The dealership won’t take care of it if the title is free and clear. Capital One should have done a better job sending you the title. While it is electronic, you can still get a copy of it. I’d call Capital one and bitch them out until you can get some firm answers.

I've scoured over that website and haven't really found anything.

Idk what anyone here can tell you. Wait longer on hold or go to a physical location.

LOL! I just called that office, and they picked up right away. They said they mailed the title to me months ago. So I guess I'll have to file for a duplicate title.

call said dealership and ask the finance manager about this. You may be able to apply for lost title.

Perhaps to your old Louisiana address.

I thought so too, but the lady said it was mailed to my current address.
