Sold my COP today for a nice quick 4,000 profit. It will make up for some of my tomfoolery with EXXI

I think it's got a good chance to dip back down into the 36-38 range after the 1st quarter earnings are announced, then I'll re-buy and double my original holdings.

I had planned to do some buying today with what I expected to be a slide in prices. That idea was turned on it head though so not sure what I am going to do now. May just through my money in now or wait until earning reports come out later this month. Maybe they can bring this market back to reality bc the laws of economics sure has shite hasnt.

That's a joke right? I've bought 3 stocks in my life, all after following this board the last several months...... other than mutual funds.

I sold 135 shares of COP today myself, took that money into ACAD. FDA is expected to approve their new drug for Parkinson's on May 1. Then I will take a lot of that money and put it back in Big Oil if there is a pullback soon.

thats a bad idea man, the stock has that priced in. No offense, its like all the guys who were looking for mnkd to go the moon after they got fda approval, it still died. Biotechs are a waste of time for retail investors even Gilead has been a disaster and they're printing cash.

With biotechs with those kinds of announcements, it is definitely a 'buy the rumor, sell the news' situation. It's often best to enjoy the ride up prior to the announcement and get out just before. You may miss a pop, but you don't risk bad news, either.

Could definitely be outdated, but I thought that people were/are worried that GILD is a one-drug wonder. Have they added any new drugs to their line up, either through internal research or acquisitions?

I sold the shares of CVX I bought in the 70's throughout the last several weeks. I still hold a lot of CVX, but I had wanted to add more cash. The only issue is the shares are all short term gains.

Anyway, as I indicated throughout this thread, no real large trades, just either adding, or trying to take some gains on smaller trades as above. I try to take a bit here and there, and win more than I lose. I manage to muddle along o.k.

No sir, not even close. In some ways I've slowed down a lot as I'm in my 40's and have always maintained consistency always outperforms occasional brilliance, but I can still grind out 12 -14 hour days if I need to.

I bought my first stock at 15 or 16. The old Gulf and Western. I took some large risks in both stocks and businesses. Not all worked out well, but enough of them. Most of them. I still do this today. I'm not afraid of losers. I just have some consistent investments, and on my riskier stuff, I try to have well thought out risk, and have more winners than losers. When Enron went broke, I took a position in Calpine. It took years to pay off, but it did. When silver was $6 per oz, I was buying. Back when you could trade and still have a chance, I traded. A lot. I was most definitely a pattern day trader. That's over.

I don't have a fancy house. I've never bought a new car.

I'm living proof that a douche bag idiot that isn't all that smart can do all right. I'm smart in a fairly uneducated sort of way is probably accurate. I try to buy stuff low, and I don't care what it is (houses, gold, silver, whatever) and try to sell it higher than I bought it for. I've timed the bottom pretty close several times. I've never timed a top becuase I'm long gone before it gets there. I take what I can get, when I can get it. I try not to get greedy, but that is one lesson I still haven't learned all the way yet.

I know you're lying about this

I've known many of these and not one were self aware enough to admit it

It misread the 70's comment and somehow in my mind thought you meant you bought the stock in the 1970's that's why I thought for a moment you may be retired

I bought more PBR recently. I've been buying DLNG the past couple months.
Also got back in CPE yesterday as well.
Looking to add to ETP at some point soon.

I feel good about my money grab. I'd have 15k more in the bank if I'd done the same thing with exxi.

Golfer has some real wisdom here

I still think it's a long hold, I'm absolutely going to jump back on it as soon as it dips again. I'm hoping this happens soon, then I'm going to double what I had.

Nothing to buy today. I was trying to get some more
Dlng
PBR
CPE
PDX
Everything went up instead of down.
Bright spot CLNE had some upward movement. I really want to free up the money I got tied up in that one.

yeah i've been buying at different price points from the 60's all the way down to the 30's and then buying on the way back up. DCAing all around. If this thing ever gets anywhere near 80 I'll have a real nice chunk of change.
