EU put in some midnight amendment trying to impose ESG on proof of work consensus which lead to some dumpage today
Is this comment specifically to my questions about Tezos or the market in general?

Just a general comment. The amendment got pulled before voting on the bill so it’s just another regulatory blip on the radar.
It does tell me the attack vector for hostile agencies against PoW is definitely going to be the environmental angle. I think the “criminals use it” narrative has mostly been dropped.

If you're holding Jasmy be careful. It's only pumping right now because of the Binance competition. It may dump on Sunday.

Any recommendations for switching from Gate.io, as required in April for people in US? My holdings are not on Coinbase/Coinbase Pro.

LRC/GME finally happened. Decent pump on that news. It'd have been nice if the announcement was made back in November when things were already going up. That'd have been a hell of a pump.

Tax question:
I have pretty simple taxes as taxes go and I use turbo tax. Turbo tax used coin tracker for my coinbase transactions.
The free version shows gains and taxes me on those.
Will the paid version also calculate my loses and hopefully balance out what I owe? Is it worth the monthly fee or is the free 7 day trial version worth looking into ?
I still can not comprehend and example like this.
If I put in 10k, do some transferring, make a small profit doing so, never take profit out as cash, but then lose initial investment and profits due to market lows, how do I owe taxes? What if everything tanks? Now I lose everything and have to come out of pocket to pay on profits that do not exist.

Do you mine?
it's taxed as income. if you mine as a hobby, you can't write off the hardware as an expense. you can if it's a business. but then you have to worry about withholding taxes, social security, medicaid, etc. (as far as my h&r block rep says).
Have you bought and held?
it's not taxed.
Have you bought and sold for USD?
it's taxed as capital gains based on the cost basis.
Have you bought and traded for another crypto?
it's taxed as capital gains based on the cost basis.
how does it usually work if it were stocks instead of crypto because that's how it would be handled.
