question for the Wine drinkers of the Money Board

Look for one that requires no money down and has no pre-payment penalties.

you'd probably get some good, non OTish answers on the food board.

I do not post on the Food Board. I consider it an abomination and should not have been created before an Outdoor Board.

Look for something un-expected and great, for a decent price... say in the $100 range....

PEJU CAB or MERLOT

BRIDESMAID CAB

ROCCA CAB

Anyone would be happy with any of these and should enjoy them a fair amount.

Silver Oak Cabernet.
You can find both the Napa Valley and Alexander Valley versions.
I suggest the Napa Valley wine, a very nice wine that wont disappoint the recipient.

Why does everyone and their brother think hat Silver Oak is a GREAT wine? It's not.

It's a completely manufactured wine made in a lab and tastes like absolute shite. It wasn't always though. Up until about '93 it was a solid wine.

Maybe a nice Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley area? You can look at an online store like Totalwine,

LINK

I have tasted some good ones from the RRV area. I also bought a bottle of Ruah in Washington State back in 2004, I believe it was a 2002, and laid it down for 4 years, it was excellent and cost $50 on site. I have some Frenchies laid down from a trip to Bordeaux last year, but you aren't going to find those locally.

It is really more about the person's palate and preferences instead of cost, there are many good wines available from ~ $16 and up. I have tasted more than a few in the +$50 retail and up price point that were nothing to write home about. Good luck.

I need to buy a NICE bottle of wine as a present for the doctor who, long story short, allowed me to have a kid,

He got you pregnant? Forget the wine and file a paternity suit pronto.
