Long story short: I owe the ex equity on the house.

If I were to send her $10,000 through Venmo, Paypal or whatever, is there anything else I need to do legally? Please tell we won't have to pay taxes on this money AGAIN.

Just write a check, or better yet a cashier's check so you have proper documentation.

I wouldn't trust something this serious to fricking Venmo

Since it is your ex, do the following if you still hate her.

Make an order with the bank, and withdraw the cash in change. Breakup the rolls and and place all the money in a container that can hold 10k in coins. Go big on the variety: pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollar coins. That way it is really hard to count unless she gets the bank to use their machine to count it which they may charge her a fee to count. She will hate you for the rest of your life to count all of that. Post on Facebook or YouTube, hopefully recollect the 10k in ad revenue.

If you still have some feelings for her, but still want to give her a hard time, order 10k of dollar bills and break the bands and place the money in a sack.

If you still want to be on her good side, just get 100 crispy 100 dollar bills.

You wouldn’t want to give your ex that took half of everything one last FU.

I understand if you have children and still need to have contact with her later which was the reason for the last option or as you put it, a check.

Only $20k total equity in the house? Did you just buy it prior to the divorce?

Meh, even if well deserved, it's better to look back and recall that you acted with dignity in that situation.

I see why you’re divorced. You’re mentally challenged.

Do it with a check in her name so you have proof you gave it to her. If you try to be cute and do it in quarters or cash you don’t have a paper record. Even VENMO or Paypall aren’t as good as a cashed check in her name. The last thing you need is her claiming to never to have received it.

Put “home equity reimbursement” in the note so that’s clear too.

Be honorable and go get a Cashiers check in that exact amount and hand deliver it to her.

Take a picture of it (the check) for your records.

Ask her if a quick BJ (to completion) from her is out of order as you have been so compliant and adult about the situation.

I only use venmo for paying back folks that buy food for a kids party at school or such.

Why not just write a check?

Wouldnt that be her problem? I wouldnt think so, but I am shocked pretty often at what the govt can tax.
