Dude Gibbs is awesome. I had him and you will love it. Super easy and learn a lot, he uses tutorials and is a really cool dude.

Yea I did a decent amount of research going through the previous 300 pages. A little nervous since I graduated back in '09 but I'm looking forward to it.

Read good things about Gibbs for ISDS 705 and also good things about McLaughlin. Lin was very easy, but utterly absent as a teacher and the course was boring.
Pro-tips for Lin - You get to make one double sided note sheet. Make your margins as small as possible, use a small font (I used Calibri light) at the smallest possible size that you can comfortably read. Remember, you can choose smaller font sizes than the defaults. Make your margins as small as possible. Type notes into your cheat sheet as you read, especially definitions. I find typing in the info greatly helped me remember the info. The tests will be pure regurgitation, and questions are often word for word definitions from the text and you have to select the correct word for the definition. I think I spent about 6-8 hours reading and prepping each note sheet and about 15 minutes taking each test. The three tests are 100% of your grade. This is literally the entirety of the class. I'm not sure if my contempt for the class and "teacher" come through clearly enough. Don't take ISDS 705 with Lin as a representation for the entire program. While not necessarily perfect, the rest of my classes so far have been decent to great. Some have been a lot of work, but at least they haven't felt like a complete waste of time.

Solid advice.

ETA: I graduated before proctoring, but found it useful to sort questions/definitions alphabetically in Excel.

The on-campus representative for BGS seems to be Prof M. Darrat. I would reach out to him if you were summer session and did not see an invite. He was the one that issued the LSUS email to notify of the invitation.

LSUnFL - I was anxious too when I started as I hadn't gone to school since 1991. My advice is to read the comments here as you are doing and decide what course fits your current schedule. The MADM courses tend to have a few chapters of reading, a test, and an essay due each week, with sometimes a comment board to which you must post one short comment and then comment on other's posts. I work full-time and spent about 15 hours a week studying. If you read at lunch it makes it easier. The Finance and Econ courses take as much time as you need to understand the subject matter for the week.
I wanted to ask everyone...where is a good place to stay in Shreveport if participating in a graduation ceremony?

Hey thebub, I stayed at the Hilton in downtown Shreveport for graduation last December. Very nice hotel and rates are reasonable.

If you need an elective and aren’t afraid of a little writing, I can’t recommend MADM 720 enough. Dr. Kim Williams is a great prof who’s involved and she genuinely cares about your success. I wish she taught more of the courses.

Socal, thanks for the tip.
I am thinking of attending.
What are your thoughts?

Marco22, I highly recommend you attend graduation. I had a great time. It was nice to meet my professors and some of my classmates. Great way to reward yourself for all the hard work.

Socal, thanks for the feedback.
It sounds like you had a great time.

To those of you who have taken Ambrosio before: any suggestions as to what to prepare or focus on for the final exam? How difficult was it?
Posted on 10/5/18 at 3:06 pm to Marek76
@Marek76 Thanks for the suggestion I will contact Dr. Darrat.

I'm taking him now. A great professor. Very engaged. He eliminates the unnecessary and simplifies what we need to know. It's definitely designed for management and not accountants.
It's been a good class. Just do the reading.

I am taking him now as well (I should have clarified), and I feel the same way. He’s very straightforward and is clear on what matters.
I was hoping to find out any tips or tricks (for example, what to study, what info to have present in your notes, etc.).
