I guess they might not be of much value if you cannot or choose not to be involved in the organizations after you accept an invite, or if you never plan to get another degree. (I am looking at DBA programs and they all ask about honor society membership.)

I view them as a way to build my professional network. Most jobs come from people that you know, so it can't hurt to become a member as long as you use the membership to build your network.

BTW, great job on the 4.0! I sounds like you really worked hard for it!

@Sactown Thanks!

I'm kicking around the idea of walking in December. Have to decide if I want to make the trip.

Anyone know when they put out the 2019 school calendar? I'd also like to know when I can start registering for Spring session.

My last class is Fall AP1, so I'll be done in October and graduating in December. My wife and I plan on making the trip up to Shreveport so I can walk. I feel like actually seeing the LSUS campus will make the degree feel a little more real considering I've never stepped foot on it.

Speaking of the honor societies, those who have been invited to Beta Gamma Sigma, when did you receive your invite relative to when you were graduating? I haven't received anything yet and, as mentioned, I only have one class remaining.

How's your experience with finance classes? Are these courses applicable if you wish to start career in finance and plan of getting finance certifications such as CFA.Which professors would you recommend for these classes ?

Would you recommend taking ISDS 705 and MADM 760 together ?

What do you think of doing ISDS 705 with James Gibbs and MADM 760 with Nathan Hellr ?

That’s a good pairing. ISDS 705 is fairly easy although I had it with Lin. I have not had MADM yet I take that in Fall AP2 but I hear it’s more writing, so those two together are fine.

@sernt18 - I'm taking ISDS 705 and MADM 760 in AP2. I'm also doing a finance concentration.

Would you like to join a Group Me that I opened? I have another student joining us. Maybe this will help with communication since it's all online. This is the link...

And if anyone else wants to join, just hit the link and join! All is welcome!

Let's do this!!

I intend to make the trip to walk in December. I've been to the campus once; happened to be in Shreveport and figured might as well swing by and get a Student ID made lol.

To my Econ 705 supporters, last weeks tips were very helpful. Aced the modules this week. Also helped that it was more theory based this week. I've accepted that calculus just isn't my strength. One more week left. WE MADE IT!!!!!!!

I have Acct 701 and MADM 701 scheduled together for next semester; how doable are those 2 at the same time?

So I took 701 and got the only B I have in the program and I have ISDS 705 left and I am done. I took 710, 720, and 730 in succession. I had Dr. Hsieh for 710 and 720 and Dr. Choi for 730. Dr. Vines was for 701. I will never forgive that man. His tests were obnoxious and the packet he gave for material directly contradicted the 400 dollar textbook I had to buy. I understand the book and their material just fine. His mind was a puzzle to me and typing in long formulas on Moodle was impossible. I didn’t finish two of the tests. Dr. Hsieh however was crystal clear and I got an A on every exam for both classes after just working through his packet. Dr. Choi taught 730 like a management class but the material I learned from Dr. Hsiegh helped a lot. It is interesting though how we had such reverse experiences.

I had a terrible experience with Vines and Hsiegh was a breeze for me. Hsiegh actually teaches while Vines makes up random rules imho.

@kcsims doable is pretty subjective depending on how much time you have to devote to studying and how much suffering you are okay with inflicting upon yourself haha! I am 7 classes in with MKT701, MADM 760 and MADM 720 left to go. I did not pair MADM 701 with anything due to it being my first class. Looking back, I could have. I paired FIN 701 and ACCT 701 together. I knew going in that the term would be difficult as those courses weren't areas of strength even in undergrad. It was a doozy due to working 12+ hour days (which was expected going in to spring/summer season) then having to come home and study what was basically a foreign language, but I made it out alive and am happy I went ahead and paired the two "math" classes together.

Also take into account that the classes are only 7 weeks. I've done a lot of sacrificing of personal life AND SLEEP to make it through those 7 weeks but it will be worth it when I complete the program in less than a year.

I have a co-worker that is about to start a 2.5 year grad school journey. Kudos to her but I don't have it in me to dedicate that much time (or finances) to this process. Her degree will cost her almost 4 times as much as ours!!

So know your strengths and have a solid understanding of how much quality time you have to devote to the program and adjust from there.

My two cents on anyone asking about pairings.

I really couldn't even imagine. Don't understand the rationale spending that much time and money on MBA. Is it also an online program? Hope it's not all coming out of pocket.

I'm hoping to make it to Shreveport for graduation in December. 1 week to go!

How about doing ECON705 with Mary White ? Has anyone taken ECON 705 with Timothy Shaughnessy ? Whom would you recommend ?

@craig it's a mix of online and she will go to class 1 day a week. Doesn't justify the extra 18 months and $30k+ but that's why there are multiple options out there. LSUS works for me.

Anyone have feedback on Nancy Albers for MKT701? I have a seat in Darrants class after jumping ship from James. Really just curious as Darrant is tried and true based on forum feedback.

@sernt18 Shaughnessy is consistently mentioned as one of the best teachers in the program. I'd have to agree with that statement as well. The work isn't easy, but he puts in a real effort as an educator and makes himself accessible. Don't forget to use the forums or email him if you have difficulties with the material.
