I mean he has a test bank and we all get different questions, so I don't know how much I would bank on listening to other students. Just study for yourself.

I had the same problem with the percentages in MKT701.

Found this in the forums:

"I emailed Dr. Darrat about this because I had the same problem. Dr. Darrat said that a setting needed to be adjusted in Turnitiin to exclude references and it will be done for future case studies. He said that meanwhile, the coaches are aware and will take this into consideration. So, don't worry. :)"

So that should help those of us with more than 10% due to citations.

Has anyone taken the ACCT exam yet?

I did not but I saw a post about it on the course forum that is now deleted. Both comments on the post said that they ran out of time because of all the calculations needed and that it was impossible to complete in the allotted time.
Ambrosio now has a post saying their calculations were unnecessary had they known the material.
Don't know what to make of this exam yet. I'll give it a few more days.

I see no advantage to taking the ACCT 701 exam today. There's no rush. I plan on taking it late in the week. Much better to wait for more feedback and take our time with the Module 4 info and sample exam, etc.

I saw the 2 posts on the Acct exam before the were deleted as well, and they have me worried.

I see what they were getting at with the timing thing. Have you guys done the practice exam? One of the questions actually has five parts.. Based on the data given, we have to calculate 1. Days Sales in Inventory, 2. Average Collection Period, 3. Debt to Equity Ratio, 4. AR Turnover, and 5. Current Ratio...

That's five separate formulas and 5 separate calculations to do in 2 mins...

Granted, we may have some extra time from the other questions, but still.. That seems like a lot for a single question. And what if there is more than one of these?

I haven't taken the Acct exam yet. I really wanted to take it this evening but I'm not rushing. I've made an extensive guide but still need to jot down some more example problems from the book. I wonder if it's all math or if he's got some simple definitions sprinkled in?

For ACCT I just want to know how similar the exam will be to the assessments. I plan on waiting it out. I actually really wish this classed used Cengage. I learned way more in the pre-req acct because of the Cengage format.

Winchester, I'm thinking I would have liked Cengage too, even with the extra cost.

I agree with both of you on Cengage. Some of this stuff has just been a refresher for me due to my undergrad and job, but the current assessment format isn't conducive to learning the material.

I just took the quiz and the practice exam. Quiz was easy. I definitely took more than 2 minutes on some of the 6 questions on the practice exam. However, if he has 6 questions on the exam identical in format to those 6 like he posted he would, then it should only take a few seconds now that I'm familiar with them. Was hoping the exam would be similar to the assessments, but the practice exam is nothing like them.

brent, thanks for the feedback. Were all the quiz answers found by using the PDF search function in the chapter?

Am I the only one actually reading every page of the book? I feel like a lot of people are just looking at the study guide. Any advice would be appreciated :)

Vines has stated that 90%+ of his test pools come from the reading guide. I'm reading the chapters through once, but that's about it.

I just wish I knew how everybody seems to be able to find time to take detailed notes/outlines, work all the problems, and then show up for the zoom sessions!

I'm struggling to make it through this material with good comprehension in one week while working full time. The material is really interesting, but the pace is killing me!

For Vines I would view the textbook as a supplement to the reading guide, not something that you should spend the majority of your time on. When I had his class I would just skim the textbook and focus on anything that overlapped with the reading guide. Make sure you can do the problems in the reading guide and the end of chapter problems he assigns and you should be well prepared. Using excel to build formulas also helps with time management on the tests.

I know what you mean. I watch the first Zoom meeting of the week and people start asking him to work his "Extra practice" questions because they've already done all the homework problems and the first set of practice problems and I'm like, "How!? How have you already gotten that far??"

This is how I've felt most of the program. I always wish I had more time to let the material sink in.

Having had Vines for both 701 & 730, it is imperative that you focus, in my opinion, all of your reading on his reading guide. Not once did I ever read anything out of the books for either class, & I managed to get very high A's in both courses (I am not, & I reiterate, NOT a finance person, like, at all).

Read his guide, then read it again, & again, & again, read it until you're ready to take the exam... make time to go to all of his Zoom sessions, ask questions on what you don't understand, after he explains it, if you're still having trouble, ask him to break it down even further, he will. He'll tell you to take advantage of him & his expertise, as he says that he's a resource for you to use, so use him. Take notes during his sessions, he'll give you answers to some of the questions that will be on the test without realizing it sometimes. Anything that he would talk about, & give his definition as to what he thought something meant, I took note of it, & most times it showed up on the exam in some form or another.

Maybe I was lucky with my classmates as we had a lot of people attend the Zoom meetings & ask questions over & over again, until we all understood it. SoCal77 can verify this as we were in 701 at the same time. I'm sure a few others on here were too.

If you can't make it to the Zoom meetings, then watch the YouTube replays & email him. As others said, create an excel formula sheet, it will definitely help with the time on the test, I never used Excel a day in my life until this class, but I learned quickly. I still have my sheets (most are just plug & chug) so if anyone would like them for reference just send me your email & I'll forward them to you.

I'd like to have them as a reference. I actually work in the finance department with my company and practically live in Excel, though I have an IT background. I've built a fairly exhaustive Excel workbook for both modules so far to aid in doing the homework and the test but I'll take any extra help I can get.

Edited: I appreciate it!
