Well I just finished the test. I had a productive day of studying, so I felt as ready as I could get in the next 48 hours. Your words of encouragement certainly helped.
Not exactly sure how I fared, but I didn't bomb. Good luck to all others.

Jeaux Cool, I had Vines for 730 so knew pretty much what to expect from him.

Sorry about that Brees. Didn't realize you'd taken him before. How does 701 seem compared to 730? Similar?
Posted on 9/8/17 at 1:36 am to Jeaux Cool
730 is way easier than 701... They were both easy (I'm not a finance person at all) but in comparison 730 had way less math. Out of the 4 tests that he gives in 730 (same as 701), I had less than 10 quantitative problems, might have been about 7. I know that most of it was luck of the draw on my part since his test were all random. But, the majority of my questions were almost all definitions & whatnot. All I know is that every question that was asked that didn't have math in it could be found directly in the reading guide.

Does anyone have any insight on MADM 752 with Knotts? I haven't seen it discussed on here too often. Thanks for the help.

I thought Knotts was great

This is what someone posted in the discussion forum in one of my courses:
Hope this helps.

Tami Knotts taught my MADM 752 course. This class was not overly demanding or difficult. We had the usually reading of a couple chapters and watching video links. We would be given a topic with a family enterprise focus to research. A roundtable discussion group was assigned and we posted cited information. A couple of replies were required to others. The next week we were given a case study and had to post our interuptations. We needed to find a local family owned business and conduct an interview. There were weekly quizes and a final exam

No proctoring, but I recall they were time limited, 15 minutes for the book quiz and 20 minutes for the videos quiz
Hope this helps.

I'm taking FIN 730 next term. The wildcard is that it's being taught by a new professor named Choi. So no idea how he will be. Wish Vines still taught it so we'd know what to expect.

socal, I'll be doing the same. hoping for the best. I have heard zero about Choi. even in moodle there are blank template documents in every section. it's kind of weird.

All I dug up on Choi so far is that he appears to be a full-time professor at Univ of Alabama. He's young and I believe started teaching in 2014. Not much else out there on him.

Just finished Exam 2 in MADM 701. It sucked. I flagged 10 questions that I thought had multiple correct answers, had no correct answers, or had no clue where the information was even coming from. I got 9 wrong so an 82. Sometimes I think she's using a different text than us.
Oh well... on to the discussion forum assignment

I just looked back at my MADM 701 module one exam scores from a couple of terms ago and the final average was 74. Aurebelman, What was the average for module 2? Mod. 1 average finished the same as your session at 74.10.
Second exam average - 72.83
Third - 82.59
Fourth - 82
Fifth - 79.08
Sixth - 85.33
Seventh - 80.29

Brent-I plan on taking exam 2 tomorrow...working on the discussion post now. I'm going to put my effort into the discussion posts and assessments. Figured I can average 80s on the exams and still pull an A at this point (worst case scenario). The average for each assignment/exam thus far (minus the syllabus quiz) have been low.
Posted on 9/8/17 at 6:09 pm to MBA2k19
I'm satisfied with my score on the assignment but I'm shocked the average is so low. Even lower than the exams. I often read how people made an A in the class because the writings brought up their grade. Maybe that average included some 0's from those who just didn't do it.
Posted on 9/8/17 at 7:27 pm to brentb71
I certainly hope that's why the score is so low (perhaps people are dropping). If the references are correct and touch on every point, we should receive 100 pts based on the rubric. Guess we'll see if the grading is consistent and fair.

I'm not that surprised the averages for the discussion are low.
If you scroll through the posts from week 1, it seemed like a lot of people failed to use the APA format for references and a lot of people failed to include at least 3 external references. I'd guess at least 50% of posts didn't meet one or the other. There were even a few that didn't exceed 1000 words. It's not listed on the rubric, but a lot of posts didn't use the correct subject.
It's not a huge stretch to imagine that people who overlook the simple, objective items on the rubric didn't demonstrate great analysis of the concepts or otherwise submitted poor writing.

Good observations. I did notice the lack of references or incorrect use of APA format. It was a bit difficult to get the references hanging after I posted to the discussion post. The format completely shifted from the word document. I had to manually adjust each one. I suppose if graduate students, or any student for that matter, do not follow the rubric, their scores will reflect their effort.
Thoughts about exam 2? I plan on taking it today.

completed FIN701 exam today, received no mathematical question all 10 were from the reading guide so grasping the concept from guide is important , lets see how he grades now

Well, I finished the FIN701 exam in time--just barely. I don't think I bombed it, and we'll see if he likes my short answers or not.
Having an exam only be open until noon on Saturday following a holiday weekend was cruel and unusual.
On to Module 2. What is up with the weird testing periods in this class? At least we have tomorrow and all of next weekend to study.
