A little context,.even with today's 9% drop the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) is still up over 112% in past year.

From Reuters.

South Korea’s KOSPI fell roughly 9%, triggering a temporary market-wide trading halt. The selling was concentrated in semiconductor stocks, with SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics suffering especially steep losses.

I had to tell them yesterday that I wasn’t buying another Hyundai due to burning too much oil in the shitty GDI engines, really didn’t expect this to happen.

Is this why a lot my speculative space and tech stocks are absolutely plummeting this morning?

Yes.

But saying the Korean stock market crashed overnight is a bit much.

Their market has turned into a meme market driven by two stocks.

On day it drops 8%. Next day it will be up 7%.

52-week range: $70.36 to $220.89

Seems like some opportunities in that turmoil. Korea is suffering political turmoil too with "progressives" wanting to be more like China. That may not bode well for the market and the government is screwing over American companies there that could spark serious blowback. Not wise to screw around with your major trading partner.
