So far I have saved $62,100 towards retirement. This is my best year yet in terms of savings even though I spent mire than I’ve ever spent. It is not what you make. It is what you keep!

$20,000 in 401k includes employer match
$15,000 SEP IRA
$20,000 Non-qualified brokerage contributions
$7,100 HSA

I think it was my most ever. 50% of net is probably in the ballpark.

Had a move this year so with the cost of the move, furniture, new boat, new atv, etc I didn't get to invest as much as usual. I did max my 401k and roth. Small amount into private equities. I had planned on setting up a HSA but that never happened. Hopefully next year.

Not enough.

About 35k.

We saved a lot this year, but shite just kept happening that’d knock us back down a peg and we like to keep a (probably too large) cushion of cash. For example, had to replace our AC unit and had to drop 6k unexpectedly.

Bravo for a successful year of savings. I've got student loans to trim down before I can get my numbers where I want them. I do have a question for you about your 401k. It looks like you're not maximizing your available savings (assuming you're employer match isn't $1,000). Any reason? Any kids or plan on it? You can open a 529 w/out having children.

I didn’t max out my 401k and could have planned that better, but I do like tge SEP better as I have more and less expensive options than my 401ks fund lineup.

Yes, I have children and contribute to my star’s plan monthly. Only a couple hundred a month but it will add up.

The people on this board and are intentional with their money. Just viewing and contributing to the money board probably puts one in the top 5-10%. Most people finance cars, boats, pools and other depreciating assets. The norm is to be bad with one’s finances

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love this board. There is a lot of good information to be learned here.

$19,000 contribution to 401k
$36,363 employee match/profit share to 401k
$7,100 in HSA
$1,500 to the IRA
$3,000 in retirement health credit by the company

Also, had 4,600 shares of AUPH in my Roth and 1,200 in my IRA. Both sets had cost basis of around $6/share, currently trading at $20/share

$62k!! Heck of a job!!

Overall for me and my wife (excluding solely-employer funded pensions), we saved roughly $44,000. We really try to focus on maintaining our rate of retirement savings.

My 401k contribution - $19,000

Wife maxed her pre-tax contributions mid-year after being slightly under max. $15,500

Company match for me: $6,300
HSA: $3,500
