How come our energy prices are not going to skyrocket?

Energy markets are global. If the price of gas goes up 5-fold in Europe, would that not cause at least some (probably large) bump in worldwide prices as well. When the price of oil went way up, it is not like we were insulated from this because the USA produces so much. It just went up for everyone, everywhere. I am sure there is some buffer because we have the ability to transport across the country. But I still am concerned

We’re not totally dependent on Russia.

Natural gas markets are not global.

Oh ok awesome did not know this

and OPEC just announced cuts in production after beijing biden begged the saudis to increase. they just told him and the EU to get fricked. we should be full bore using all our resources here but we know that will not happen with these authoritarian clowns in office.

Let me explain a little more besides the rude statement I made. Oil is more of a global commodity due to the ease of transportation it has. You can transport it via, tanker, pipeline, truck, boat, etc.
On the other hand, natural gas, with it being a gas, the only real option to transport it is via pipeline, so therefore making it more regional than global. Others will suggest "LNG" makes it global but its takes an extraordinary amount of power and money to make it more transportable.

Thank God. USA is like the Saudi Arabia of natural gas. We have an absolute frick ton of oil as well.
If we did not have so much corruption, our energy prices could be a 1/3 of what we are paying.

Oil is global
Gas is regional. It’s not like there are pipelines and LNG ships all around the globe.

And one thing the U.S is doing well with right now is setting ourselves up to do very well in the natural gas global trade

NG Prices are starting to get more global by the year the more LNG we build which is why we’re at $8/mcf now, but it’s always cheaper to live where it’s produced. If I had to guess we’ll eventually build out too much LNG and some other supply will come on and crash the incentives to build more… likely right after the “more” is built

Domestic NG price has increased by 2x-3x in just over a year. While NG isn't nearly as vulnerable to global demand as oil is, we should still see price beginning to rise again due to the Ukraine/Russian war as Europe becomes incredibly willing to pay top dollar (okay, "euro") for natural gas because freezing to death isn't all that much fun.

They’re going to go up, I’d be very surprised if we don’t export more of our production to Europe to alleviate some of their difficulties.
That it will cause difficulties for us…well that’s just a price the moron in chief is willing to have us pay.

How does a 14 year old article help this discussion?

Obama is still higher up the food chain than Joe, he's a revolutionary (to our detriment), his plans are further down the road than your average mainstream news consumer.

Explain in a little more detail how you know that NG in the US is going to go up and things will be more difficult for us.

Reducing supply here will drive prices up. Not just for NG.
2+2 = 4
Not exactly difficult to see coming
