A Tahoe's top speed is governed at around 110....so yeah, he was pretty much going all out. Probably not wearing a seat belt.

Sad for his family.

For sure.

Hubris and greed, this dude's Wiki is pretty epic with some of the stuff he's done.

At one point was incredibly successful though but as they say "when the chicken's come to roost".

Wow. I refuse to believe it was suicide.

I don't know , but I saw on one of the true crime shows that if they find a crashed vehicle that has burned they assume it was set fire after the crash because fires as a result of a crash are so rare. Out of curiosity I called someone I know in the towing business, of the more than 20,000 cars and trucks they have recovered from crashes less than 5 caught fire from the crash. Others that had burned were found to be set fire after the crash to destroy evidence pretty much exactly as the forensics show had said.

They're going to find that the body is Archie Manning and McClendon had dyed his hair brown, put on some risky business shades and caught a flight out of OKC for Rio.

Who's who?!?!

How could they make the lease price fixing accusation stick between two parties? There a a ton of producers in a hot area, weren't there other interested parties? Can't producers discuss what blocks they are interested not interested in? No on was forced to sign a lease.

My boss was his original banker on the CHK IPO texted him this AM to check on him given the indictment.

Until I heard otherwise I'm going to give him he and the family the benefit of the doubt that it was a heart attack/stroke.

Sad/weird situation.

I mean every single lease is recorded, if other parties saw Sandridge and CHK were in there low balling why wouldn't they come in on the cheap, it would be pretty damn easy to bust up leasing collusion, there are too many ops out there.

They colluded in Michigan with Encana. It's not unheard of. And you don't have to record a lease the day you execute it. It's not uncommon to hold leases for a period of time. Additionally you can have your brokers lease into shell companies. EOG are pros at stealth leasing.

Because this way his family could possibly think that it isn't suicide.

My jaw was on the floor when I heard this afternoon. Maybe it's just me, but this one hits close to home.

Aware of all these things, kinda to my point, they aren't forced to sit across each other at the auction block and bid on leases, were Sandridge and CHK the only ops interested in this area of the play? Can they not exchange information in blocks they are interested in leasing.

That wasn't your point...you specifically highlighted that all leases are recorded. I haven't seen the facts of the case but to think it is unlikely or impossible for parties to collude on fixing lease bonuses is foolish. I've seen it happen on a smaller scale.

Would a natty gas rig have anything to do with it?

I know nothing about the flammability of those..

Sorry for the necro of a 3 month old thread, but WSJ reports that Police Probe Finds Nothing to Suggest Aubrey McClendon Committed Suicide. Friends say that he typically drove fast, didn't wear a seat belt, and often drove while talking or composing emails/texts. He was also known for pushing himself to exhaustion. The car probably caught fire due to some natural gas leaking and finding a spark or something. Sounds like it might've been a tragic accident after all, though we may never know for sure.

Damn, the story of being leveraged to the hilt and the indictment made suicide a easy thing to point to. However it did strike me a little odd bc individuals with his mentality usually dont go out lying down.

Or the police complying with the family to make sure a life insurance policy is paid out.

Going 80+ mph in a 40, driving right into a bridge embankment, right after getting indicted and his once highly respected career got shattered????

He committed suicide.

Don't be dumb people.

This bird has white feathers, likes the water, quacks and waddles.

It's a duck.
