AMD warns of third-quarter revenue shortfall on weaker PC demand, supply chain issues

AMD issued preliminary third-quarter results Thursday that are well below its initial guidance.

The semiconductor company reported preliminary quarterly revenue of approximately $5.6 billion. It had initially said it expected $6.7 billion in revenue for the quarter, plus or minus $200 million. AMD also said that its non-GAAP gross margin is expected to come in around 50%, while it had previously expected gross margin to be closer to 54%.

Shares fell about 4% in after-hours trading.

AMD said the shortfall was a combination of a "weaker than expected PC market and significant inventory correction actions across the PC supply chain."

I have been waiting to pounce on this. How low you think AMD is going? I was hoping to buy in the $64 range but could be poised for 50s?

Was wondering over the last few days (fake rally) why my financial advisor hasn't called to tell me to put more money into the market. More pain ahead for sure.

I believe client business is their processor and GPU products sold to retail. Hmmm just like Nvidia wonder why GPU demand has fallen off a cliff

They break out gaming revenue from Client, and gaming was actually up.

Except when it's good news being bad news. September Unemployment inexplicably dropped to 3.5%.

The market is taking a huge dump today now that instead of a pause or just .5 in November we may well get another .75.
