The margins of these fast food chains may not be large enough to also incorporate app support and development.

I think McDonalds, Wendys, YUM, Chikfila, etc. all have plenty of cash to support this stuff.

Not to mention the bluetooth has to partner with every fast food joint doing this.

This idea is stagnant until more people have touch screens in their cars. A decent idea tho.

How about when you drive to a fast food restaurant your car is sensed by sensors at the driveway entrance. Their menu is automatically uploaded to your touchscreen in the car

Why not just drive up and order off the menu prominently displayed right outside the car?

Not seeing the value add here.

Apps are not connected to bluetooth. I think it's cheap to implement an app to order foods. I'd think the app is connected to google's map that will enable you to activate the app when the device is within a certain radius of a fast food restaurant.

Right now, you could implement an app that knows your location, so when you pull into the parking lot, your normal order is automatically sent inside, you walk in or drive up, scan the barcode on the phone or use NFC, and they hand you your stuff while your payment is processed using that scan.

This is already on the way to Starbucks. They are halfway there with the ability to use their app to pay for drinks.

Also, you can imagine the possibilities of this kind of process being in place at many other service based establishments. Restaurants, malls, movie theaters, big box stores, etc.

For something like this to work, I'd want to replace the employees first. I'd want my costumers to be able to go in and out under a minute, which would be possible with robotic.

Why not have a touchscreen menu in substitute of the intercom/order screen. You pull up, touch what you want on the menu, it gives you a total, and the order isn't processed through inside until you've paid using your credit card/cash

Like a fast food self checkout.

I like it

ETA: Disclaimer: this idea is documented in a public forum and is easily accessibly to backup the claim for a share of any inventions that may occur as a result.

I'm kidding

Do you really think Joe Public will be able to properly place an order when the people THAT WORK THERE can barely do it ?

That would rely on the general fast food buying public to not be too stupid to frick it up and slow the process down. There are people that can't figure out self checkout machines at grocery stores, I'd hate to see them try to get a whole order of food correct.
