I'm not sure the Fed can stay apolitical.
The new Chairman of the Fed was just appointed by Trump earlier this year.

ETA: It may be difficult to realize that with all the recent turmoil in the stock market, the Dow Jones is still UP over 30% since November 8, 2016, the day Trump was elected POTUS. The Dow Jones closed at 18,332.74 on that day.

It was never a good idea for Trump to tie himself to stock market performance. The fact that he's still trying to get involved in that space is mind blowing to me.

its getting depressing. I do think we are overdue for a bear market but this type of blood bath isn't good for anyone.

I did sell about 5% of my US holdings last week and 3% in august, so I timed that pretty well.

It's good for me

Going to get Apple at almost a 1.8% yield. Not to mention all of the Midstream pipeline companies that are getting absolutely hammered. EPD going to be one of my largest positions and I'm getting it at dirt cheap valuations.

I wouldn't be surprised if the totality of my portfolio is UP today. Thanks AUPH

Buying on the dip is a good strategy, of course, timing that is a bit tough. You could have bought on Tuesday and then been SOL.

I will likely re-enter the market at the end of Dec.

I was getting a little down this morning over the stock market until I read the thread on the O-T Board about the little 8 year old boy from Vinton, La who has terminal brain cancer.

This will be his last Christmas.

It put things in perspective.....

ETA: Here is that thread....

I bought BAC at $27 on Tuesday, and more today at $25.70. If it continues to tank I’ll buy more. These spikes always slingshot back, even if they don’t slingshot north completely.

They have a huge backlog of orders for planes.

Too much China exposure in today's environment, expect some backlash over yesterdays arrest.

I expected this kind of volatility (short term pain) immediately after a trump election, but for some long term gain benefit later. I’m fine with the 30% run though, then ripping the band aid off some issues so we can heal better.

For all we know, the market will end today in the green.

6-7% swings in total market indexes in less than two trading days should really never happen.

True, but I doubt it.

FWIW, the major European exchanges all closed today down over 3%. As I write this the DJ is down 2.48% and the S&P500 is down 2.1%.

ETA: The only stock I own that's up today is ISTR. It's up 2.01% (+$0.50) on massive volume of 1,036 shares traded today....

I've got two slightly in the green Intel and Southwest. Really like Southwest right now with oil prices where they are in the $50's.
