oh yeah, that stuff puts it into perspective.

I am whisker close to being able to retire. I just need the stock market not to tank.

You really shouldn't. My plan is to retire at 45, an extra year or two isn't going to kill me.

If you're looking for a silver lining, intraday the DJIA is up nearly 400 points right now.

Getting out of meetings and I see a CNBC article talking about almost all losses being erased.

We were down 780 points a few hours ago only to close down 80 points. This market is loaded with estrogen, and it’s paying off if you buy the dip.

This thread is full of ego and poorly thought out advice.

Good nuggets but the bottom line is nobody knows what is going on.

Stay patient. Have a plan. Follow your indicators and stay patient again.

This will be his last Christmas.

It put things in perspective.....

or you could look at the value of various cryptos. my friend told me yesterday to look at them (i hadn't for a long time) and ETH was down to sub-$100 after a peak earlier this year of over $1k

is this a bubble? I'm not sure

found one even better (worse?)

After the new jobs created report this morning that came up short of projections the yield curve steepened on the long end. The 10 year's yield went up about 3 basis points and the 30 year's almost 4 bp. The 90 day bill actually went down about a basis point.

Seems like the bond market is saying the Fed's interest rate increase cycle is about done for a while.

There's still a slight inversion between the 2 year and 5 year treasuries.

Only one of 100 worries this market is dealing with.

Collapse coming.

So you must have huge short bets in on this, eh? What’s your premise?

Market valuations are not what they were Jan 18 (currently reasonable with modest growth expectations).

There’s always a myriad of purported risks and we’ve climbed that wall of worry up until specific time periods this year. Time will tell but I’m following transport stocks which are holding critical levels fairly well at the moment.

Long vol is all I am doing

My premise is that the market is breaking before our eyes. Passive ETF investing is going to be a major problem when most try to get out at once. Think of how many positions have to be sold when selling just one ETF. Algos will start pulling bids when we get a huge volatility spike and liquidity will completely dry up creating a vacuum effect. It has already happened in Feb. this year.

DB derivative book is a huge problem and will create a domino effect.

Of course we all know the geopolitical risks as well as the war we have going on right here between the Swamp and the White Hats / patriots.
