Spoke to an old client and friend about the Piedmont lithium deal. He had visited a Chilean copper mine some years ago. It was a deep mining pit with those massive dump trucks with 10' tires. He said it took one of those trucks 40 minutes to drive to the bottom to pick up a load and 40 minutes to drive back up. Each trip used 600 gallons of diesel fuel. Open pit lithium mining is very similar.

I would hope that SL's marketing team would have gotten all the information about their technology and how environmentally friendly their extraction process is compared to others out to all the battery makers and car companies by now

All of the other miners I'm in have pulled back the past week and especially today. It's trading like it should be IMO. No biggie, these aren't drooler $1111 trillion TAM narrative names that rip for no reason.

Considering how much Lithium the Tesla, VW, etc will need I think the demand will not be an issue. The issue is demonstrating production at large scale.

The estimated use varies but most seem to think the #1 category industry consumer will be passenger vehicles in 2022 and going forward.
Which is not to contradict your point that energy storage consumption will also increase. Tesla is expected to be a big player in that as well.
