Afro, how exactly does your four way work? I imagine that even a modified closed loop of:

A --> C
B --> D
D --> A
C --> B

Would trigger some Amazon angst. Is one party being left out, so they can write the check?

Don't view it as couples sending money.

We've been doing it for 7 months or so.

Change up amounts, don't send the max, sometimes 2 separate payments. Just thoughts to change up patterns. Not sure if it matters, but it has worked so far.

No one likes them... the key is to make sure you get more out of the card than the annual fee is worth

My wife and I are done getting new cards for a while. I'm going to put the minimum spend on the business.

Citi AAdvantage Platinum World Traveler MC - 50K AA miles

Citi Executive AAdvantage World Elite MC - 100K AA miles - Admirals Club, first bag checked free for primary cardholder plus up to 8 people on the same reservation, no foreign transaction fee

Chase Freedom - that 5% bonus with more possible is great

Chase Sapphire Preferred - 40k URP plus 2X points on dining

American Express Gold Rewards - 30K points plus 15K points after $30K spend in calendar year. 3X points on airline tickets and 2X points on gas and groceries

I got the cards in a way to maximize American Airlines flights and British Airways Avios miles. There is a Chase card that offers 50K Avios as a bonus and if the offer is still there in 6 months I'll probably get that and the Ink Bold.

Just another data point...I've been sending money back and forth between my wife and myself for nearly 3 years now. I haven't heard so much as a peep from Amazon.

I usually keep it just under $1000 and send the money in 2 to 3 payments. I also handle one account at home and the other at work...I have no idea if any of that actually makes a difference, but it is what has worked for me.

So, it seems as though a closed loop isn't necessarily deadly, if the transfer look "irregular". Something to think on.

Wait, what is this wizardry?

ETA: Wait, wait, wait. I'm now seeing that Staples sells gift cards to other businesses on their website. Are you telling me that I can not only get 5x points on the purchase with a Bold, but another 2 points by going through the UR marketplace?

If so...

Not only can you get 7x points by going through UR Mall, you can also register your business card at visasavingsedge.com and those cards will only cost you 4.88 a piece instead of 6.95.

For the vanilla Visa cards, which are obviously the most useful. But, the email delivered gift cards to specific businesses are quite free.

They said my Bold would be here early next week. Can't wait

You have me hooked on this shite.

My wife and I just went over what card gets used for what purpose to maximize points/miles earned.

I'm already planning what cards to add in 6 months if current offers are still available.

BTW, that box the Citi Executive card comes in is downright sexy.

I just went through Staples' gift card list and wrote down which ones I thought I might use going forward as a quick reference

Now that's funny.

We aren't using gift cards to manufacture spending. I can make all of my business purchases using a credit card so I'll rotate them. I know I'll spend the $30K on the American Express to get the 15000 point bonus.

Well good for yall! Very exciting to get more for less and even more freedom to do what you want.

Make sure to post when you redeem a trip.

Will do.

I just discovered AAdvantage Dining. Now I get two points per dollar from the Sapphire Preferred card plus up to 5 miles per dollar spent including tax and tip by eating at any one of a ton of restaurants. Mo miles, mo miles.

For someone who's held tight credit, has an excellent score, gets a ton of air miles nationally every year and is ready for a big time card, but wants something more low maintenance and versatile...

Is it the Amex Starwood Preferred Guest or the Amex Platinum that is the better deal? Is it points vs. amenities essentially?

I don't have the Starwood, but I do have the Platinum. Hopefully some news comes out soon about them adding some perks as I'm going to have a hard time paying the $450 when it comes up as I'm not too pleased with it. I'm sure others that travel more would covet it more, but I'm not jumping up and down over it.

When you make the payment to Amazon, what category does it show up on your statement?

The reason I ask, is sometimes cards have 2/3/5% cash back with online shopping. Does the transfer show up as Amazon?
