Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit pool is not a bad way to spend a post Christmas day.
Eta: either I gained a ton of experience since India or Thailand is just really easy to navigate. Lot more relaxing for the women folk, no legless people knocking on your car in traffic, etc.
Agenda after this is True Love cafe, Chatuchak, and Lumpinee Stadium.

Bottom of
Page Bump
OK MB I need help.
I have had the CSP/ Freedom combo for 7 months now and racked up 100k UR. I know there is the annual fee coming up for the CSP. I would like to jump on another bonus opportunity to somehow add to/use in conjunction with my UR points. I just don't know what card to get now.
I got an offer in the mail for the AMEX Platnium with the 100k points opportunity. Is this a good card to jump to next? I don't really understand all the point valuations or how to combine them with my already earned UR points. What are the pros and cons to this card?
Is there a card y'all would recommend? Also when I get another card do I cancel the CSP or just leave the line of credit open?

If you cancel your CSP, you won't be able to transfer your points to an airline/you will lose the points if not sent to your Freedom for holding.
So, either make CSP a "keeper" and keep spending on it and Freedom, paying the fee each year OR before canceling, have an award in mind and transfer the points to that program.
Someone with more experience in this program will probably come along after the weekend to help you out.

I find Bangkok one of the easier Asian cities to navigate. Especially sukhumvit due to the large number of expats in the area. The touts usually aren't aggressive either.
How's the jet lag? Boxing last night?

I got this too, but the $450 annual fee is too steep for me, I just can't justify it.

It's literally the best offer ever. The real nominal cost is only $50
Posted on 12/26/15 at 12:29 pm to I Love Bama
Can you explain the math?
Posted on 12/26/15 at 3:45 pm to geauxcats10
You get $200 in airline credits each year which means you can buy $200 in ecerts thus bringing the annual fee down to $250. From there you get a credit for tsa precheck/ global entry which also brings down the annual fee.
After that I see the most benefit using the centurion lounge in my primary airport (LGA).
100K in MR points is at the very worst $1000 in value, so that alone justifies the fee for at least 2 years.
The card is designed to maximize travel. If you don't travel a lot or don't care about club access it really has no purpose.

I've never taken advantage of that offer because I don't have airline incidentals (I thought they killed ecerts?) and I don't fly enough to justify pre check.

The ecerts still work. I just did this with mine? If you have the card you might as well get global entry. It's free and last 5 years. No brainer

How's the jet lag?
The BTS is amazing. Hopefully they keep adding on and get it closer to the river by Wat Pho some day. Hard getting down there compared to BTSing the whole way.
Jet lag not bad at all when you have a lie flat business seat. Seriously never flying this far in economy again if I can help it.

Boxing last night?
Was OK. I had to leave before the fully adult fighters got going because it was already pretty late. Crowd was light too when we left. However, had a knockout right in front of us but my GoPro was off! I think I got another knock down later though. Have to check the video. The fighting was entertaining but I think I'd recommend the other arena sight unseen because it isn't as far out.
Heading out to Siem Reap this afternoon on Bangkok Air.

Enjoy!
You are going to love it here. I recall you being single. My wife is reading this right now, and she agrees Thai girls are very pretty
Most of my pics are on my good camera that I haven't loaded on my PC yet, but I'll try to get a few on IMGUR to post here tonight if I can.

What is the best redemption for AMEX points? I have about 88,000 right now, and trying to plan my next trips. I don't have a strong desire of where to travel, so I was going to let my points somewhat determine my options. Where do you guys generally transfer to get the most bang for the buck?
Current point status is pretty crappy. After using 500,000 points for the Bora Bora trip (coming up in April). I am left with 25,000 Chase points, $700 worth of capital one points, and 88,000 AMEX points. I think I am going to do the companion pass under my wife's name this year(she only has 1 chase card to my recent 7). Otherwise thinking of either AMEX platinum or Citi Prestige (avid golfer that could take advantage of the golf rounds to add value).

Siem Reap passport control is an absolute shitshow
Passports just being thrown around. We were delayed out of Bangkok so we landed probably around the same time as another Bangkok Air flight and maybe a few more, so Passport control took over an hour.
My wife's passport is 9 years old. Passport guy didn't think my wife matched her passport because her face is narrower than the one in the passport. He even had her show her teeth
Little upset as I wanted to go to Route/Road 60 Carnival and dominate Khmer children on the bumper cars that seemed to be there.
I need some sleep. Jesus
I leave you with soothing puppies:
True Love Cafe Bangkok off my wife's phone

Obviously. My point is that it's not actually a "$100 value" for most people who are evaluating whether they should get the card.

Poolside Le Meridien Siem Reap
I guess I should take some more photos with my phone. A lot easier to upload on the go.
Saw Bayon at Angkor Thom this morning. Heading to Angkor Wat after the pool.
Tomorrow I should have some neat waterfall photos.

This seemed to be the concensus of the expats we were with who in so many words advised us it wasn't worth our time. They said it's really lost its appeal in the last decade and is dominated by teens.

Looks great Teddy but I think we need larger images to see everything.
