Hell I know I would do my part in stimulating the economy with the 800/month we pay to student loans.

No. The fact that students have a vested interest in their degree choice and cost of that degree helps effectively fill the demands of the workforce. Having students pay for their philosophy degrees at least puts a price to it. As oppose to engineering where the loans would be easy to pay off.
Plus who wants to pay for others educations. Seems a bit unfair to those that chose an affordable path instead of better schools.

You take federal aid for schools, you must pay.
You don't go to school and take federal aid, it's free.

No. Just because you're mom tells you that you're a bright sparkling snowflake doesn't mean you should take out $100K to get a fine arts degree. Back in the day if you wanted to go to fancy pants private liberal arts school, your parents paid, you paid or you got a scholly.
Not sure why this is a difficult concept for some.

So, because we made a mistake bailing out the auto industry, we are supposed to make another mistake bailing out student loans?

The feds guarantee the loans, the banks that issued the loans still expect to be repaid.
What these protesters don't realize is that for the feds to "forgive" the loans means one of two things: 1) A massive wealth transfer to big, bad Wall St. banks to pay the loans for the students, or 2) The effective destruction of most banks and the complete shutdown of student loans, at which point no student can get an education loan of any sort.

My mom's student loans for grad school were forgiven because she taught in the public school system for 5 years.

Supposedly "staffers" for Congressmen have their loans forgiven.

I hope not, I see all these dumbass students with iphones and decent cars going out to eat all the time then crying about student loans. Stupid asses. Especially the ones that major in bullshite degrees. If you are broke go to the Juco get your AA then work and get your degree.

odds are they were paid by the public school system. whoever loaned her that money got their money back; I can promise you that. they weren't just forgiven.

i think it's usually a federal program that handles that...there are some for attorneys/doctors going to work in poor areas, too

Yes, with some caveats. The banks' gravy train was cut off earlier in the year, as they weren't taking any risk at all.

Or what about just adding bankruptcy to the mix?

Hell no. I knew the cost before going to school. I paid mine back in full, with interest.
