Curious if anyone has done this? I've had them for 4 years and renegotiate yearly, the problem is our Internet through att is separate and even bundling them both now as an existing customer is still 350+ more expensive annually. I called Dtv this morning and ended up cancelling as they just can't go low enough to make numbers comparable as an existing customer. Xfinity offering 2 year cable /high speed Internet bundle to new customers that is much cheaper and locked in. I like Dtv but not for the continued premium I'd pay. As a new Dtv/Internet bundle customer however it'd be comparable to the cable bundle.

About to do this... Their customer service has gone to shite over the past 6 months. 13yr customer and all they would offer me is new equipment. Kept getting promised, "You have a $30 a month credit coming up next month, call in on this day".

I can usually call in and get 25-35 off for a year, but not now.

Going to get the SO to sign up under her name and number, I've read as long as last names and phone number aren't the same, you are good to go.

I got about 40 bucks in discounts 2 months ago as a 3 year existing customer, so the discounts are still there

Just have to talk to the right retention rep

Just got $30 a month for a year in addition to a current $10 discount. I'm not on a contract and never accept their offer for one.

I always call and say I want to cancel so I can speak to retention reps, even if all I want to do is add or remove HBO. If I don't get something I like, I schedule a cancellation for 30 days from the date of the call. Call back two weeks later - discounts increase. Rinse and repeat each year.

I know how to play the game, been doing it for over 10yrs... I've spoken with 3-4 different customer retentions rep and it isn't working this go round.

Even followed up with a scathing email and didn't get a response from that.

Temped to go the resign up route to get new Genie equipment.

Second dish, however expect a call from DTV in the next week offering mega savings. If you want to hold out for that you can. I cancelled 4 months ago and they offered to pay for me to cancel my dish package even though I just got it and to lower my monthly bill to $70/mo plus nfl ticket.

I might have to do this to get those airline miles they offer for United or American.

My wife didn't legally change her last name so I'm golden there. Curious if it's "per household" but I doubt they'd investigate if I was still living here

They almost got me to stay with them with this back when I decided to cut the cord.

I was paying $72/month for pretty much everything except movie channels. I had NFL Network, Sunday ticket, SEC Network, and all the other channels that my wife liked to watch.

I put the cancellation through and they called back about a week later offering me my same package for $49/month for 12 months (24 month contract). I'm sure when the 12 months were up, my bill would not have simply gone back to $72/month, but the $49/month was tempting.

When you finally cancel after about 30 days they will give you new customer offers + 200 dollar gift card to buy out your current contract

I believe they go by home address or at least that was what I was told when the offer I received for free upgraded equipment did not apply to me (the representative said it was a mistake that I received the offer). Told her to put it in my wife's name and she said if I did that, I would be committing fraud. This was after I canceled my service and switched to EATEL. It was their "welcome back" gift to me that didn't apply.

Left them, switched to DISH Network about a 1.5 years ago and haven't looked back. Much better customer service at DISH and their equipment is significantly better. And less expensive too.

Cancel and go with apple or amazon TV instead. You can get beaucoup TV shows and movies with Amazon Prime for $100 a year plus the benefits of free shipping. For $10 a month you can get a HULU or Netflix subscription. Lastly, you can get slingbox cable for like $20/ month and still get ESPN...

I do this yearly when my wife gets in an argument with cox for raising the damn prices.

She cancels, a few weeks/months later I call back on a special and either set it up under her or myself again.

I got mad when u verse took 3 weeks to come install at my new house. They kept cancelling. I got Internet through xfinity and haven't looked back. Stream amazon, netflix, and hulu. Get everything we need through that. Have the watch especially app and just use my parents account info and stream live especially for free.

I have dish, no issues. And I call once a year and complain about pricing and get $25 for 10 months, call back 10 months later, do the same thing. Never had an issue.

FWIW i tried this with Cox about 2 months ago. It all has to do with the address of service. We got the price we wanted but it wasn't because of the route you are speaking of.
