To be exact, Berkshire shares have skyrocketed 5,502,284% between when Buffett took over what was then a failing textile company in 1965 and the end of 2024, according to the company’s most recent annual report. By comparison, the broad S&P 500
rose 39,054% over that time period with dividends.

Putting my faith in Buffet is the best decision I have made with my retirement funds. I wish I had embraced it sooner. Even in this downturn, he has navigated it well....today kinda sucks though!

Thoughts on his successor? I know he’s done a lot of the business for a while, but we have to imagine he won’t be able to replicate Buffett’s results

that's the big unknown. Kinda like Perkins following Bear Bryant at Alabama. Some big shoes to fill.Buffett is still on the board of directors and will like have some input/sounding board if Abel wants it.I do think eventually Berkshire will pay cash dividends and will at some point have a massive stock split but all that will be years from now.

Dude at my first job, 1994 or so, was a huge BRK fan. I thought the dude was a goober and ignored him. Facepalm.

Anyone know where to see the best mutual funds’ performance and its inception date? Just curious how a ‘pro’ stacks up.

I’d rather have had started out with $1,000 of BRK-A in 1965 than starting out with $1 million of QQQ in 2010.

He’s also lost billions of dollars and has had some bad deals.

Like in the airlines and with paramount.

Thing is, you don’t have billions to lose.

They did the B shares to sort of allow smaller investors a chance and keep the institutional funds from offering instruments that are a piece of Berkshire A.

I could see a “special” dividend, but I don’t think they will become a dividend stock.

If they think Brk.A or B are undervalued. They will do massive buybacks. The special dividend would allow some flexibility when stock price is overvalued.
