I suppose this is worthy of a bump.

What a good day to buy in the OPs post. $3400 per BTC was cheap.

So for a noob like me - is it too late to get in on it?

No BTC will be worth over 10K sooner than later. If you wait for a dip you might save $500 bucks, but I'd go ahead and buy your ticket to the Moon. The old timers on here are the same kind of people who couldn't see shopping online taking off 10 years ago. They think BTC is the bubble, the real bubble is the dollar, US economy and fiat currency system. The reason BTC keeps going up is because the dollar will keep going down.

I'm usually skeptical, but there seems to be something special going on here with BTC. And the best part is that the public generally still has no idea what BTC is or how to buy some. So we're not even close to the euphoria/crash stage yet IMO.

Bitcoin isn't even the best crypto to own long term. They just have the luxury of being the most popular and the "first mover" advantage
Think how high this could go if more than a fraction of a percent become educated on crypto. It's still in its infancy

Okay so how much is it to get in?

Yes, it is currently both. Every time I double my initial investment in crypto, I pull 20% out and put it in other more traditional investments.
Maybe a stupid question, but how do you handle taxes on this? Or not paying taxes....
Do these sites you purchase through give you annual statements for tax purposes?

However much you want to buy in for. One of the interns at my work bought in for $20. You don't have to buy 1 full BTC. You can buy a small fraction of one if you'd like. Sign up at Gemini or Coinbase if you want to jump in. Both are FDIC insured.

I love this little bit coin pyramid scheme. Everyone already invested is begging people to invest so they don't lose their money. lol shameless money hungry scammers

Don't worry about it if your gains are under $20,000. If they are over fill out a form and pay the IRS. This is based on the IRS stating what the scope of their audits would be for 2015.
In that year, 802 reported capital gains from Coinbase

I don't think there is 1 person in the thread that hasn't made money.
And not 1 person has begged anyone to invest
Lol

Bitcoin could end up being a lot of things. But if you understand Technology it's impossible to be a pyramid scheme.
It's made by humans correct?

Started out with 15k. With a bit of research, timing and pure dumb luck, I'm now over 75k in 6 months. 50k will go back to my Chase account end of this month for my 5 y/o's college fund. (After B Gold and maybe Seg2x fork)
I'll happily pay Uncle Sam. What a time to be alive!

How easy is it to transfer that amount of bitcoin to USD? How much of a cut do the exchanges take? Easier or harder than online gambling payouts back in the day (before the government cracked down on it)?
