Crypto here to stay

Evolve & adapt or be a dinosaur. You sound like my grandma about 12 ys ago who said "that cell phone thingy with text and e mail will never catch on. I'll just use my land phone and put a stamp on an envelope if I want to write them something".

I believe eventually there will be some type of USDcoin in the works.

Hope this thread dies soon so I can bump it in a few yrs

Well, I'll continue to invest my USD in legitimate businesses and you can have the bitcoins to yourself.

I have no doubt that the blockchain technology will be very important to transacting in the future, but it's nowhere near it and any "investing" in "cryptocurrency" is pure speculation.

Bitcoins transaction speed and capacity is a fraction of that of Visa. Then you have things like forks and the like that fracture cryptocurrency. It's just not viable yet.

Over $500 million worth of bitcoin has already been stolen. Down vote all you want but that is a fact.

This is true, but the problem wasn't Bitcoin. It was a centralized company holding information being hacked. Centralized information is a huge problem right now just ask Equifax.

There wouldn't be an Equifax problem on our hands if they had information stored on a block chain.

Some companies that accept BTC

You don't think the vast majority of these companies accept it because there are mechanisms in place to immediately convert to USD?

Found this quote on another message board and it perfectly relates to why companies would accept them.

quote:

Basically it is no different than holding slot machine chips from a casino. They are worth something...but if you are still holding them when the casino decides to close their doors, your loss. You can't do a thing with them.

I'm not bitter. I hope cryptocurrency makes it. But I'm not naive enough to think that I'm going to get rich off of it.

Going back to the landline example, 10 years from now, bitcoin is a bag phone.

You all think you're so much smarter than everyone else because you invest in cryptocurrency. Get over yourselves. You're getting taken by the developers of these coins.

I was one of those posters bashing Wiki in this type of thread a few years ago when Bitcoin was $500. Now Wiki probably owns his private island. I researched/educated myself on the risk vs potential and decided to jump in

I hope Wiki comes back one day and shoves his lambo and yacht up your grandpa arse. If he had listened to some of you a few yrs ago, he would have not hodled his btc and be flipping burgers with you today.

For every Apple, google, amazon, there are hundreds of companies that didn't have those kind of parabolic returns. But you can't compare those to cryptocurrency because cryptocurrency has no earning potential, it's not a stock.
