re: Bitcoin - shave and a haircut
USD's value is derived from its stability, its accepted pretty much anywhere, and perhaps most importantly currently, its the denomination oil is traded

No I'm not. I'm asking you how one determines the value of bitcoin or anything else and you can't seem to do it. No one can, that's the problem.

It's value is determined in the same manner any fiat currency is... supply and demand.

You won't convince me that some brand new electronic based, highly unregulated currency is 3000% more valuable than the US Dollar.

Prepare that a-hole. Sounds like you are an "investor."

But demand for the dollar is because you can exchange goods and services in the dollar.

Bitcoins demand is currently pure speculation.

Companies that take USD

All of them.

I get paid in USD so why would I then buy bitcoin so I could buy something else when I can just buy in USD, which is what I get paid in.

It's clear that you don't know anything about BTC or cryptocurrency at all.

You try to make a point. Someone throws that back in your face and then you're all wah wah but but.

Keep throwing shite against the wall.

USD had about a 200 year head start. Probably has something to do with that.

If you think that list of companies will remain fixed forever.. I'm not sure what to tell you.

Also...

quote:

All of them.

This is not true. Try using USD in china.

I'd say the real value is 5+ years away from blockchain technology starts replacing existing technology. As "popular" as crypto may be right now, 99.9% of the population has absolutely no clue what it is

I'm a large investor, more buy and hold than anything

re: Bitcoin - shave and a haircut
Bitcoin's true value is based upon the cost of electricity for the miners processing the transactions. So yes that is a tangible value. Miners spend thousands of dollars to produce these coins. Yes some value is speculative, but that is true of any market. In terms of currency I think it has a long way to go. It doesn't scale well for mass adoption as a currency. I personally see it more of a store of value.
