I'm in Ascension Parish and it runs me $175/wk per kid. This is for an established, professionally run child care facility that feeds breakfast and lunch and does "kindergarten prep" for the 4 year olds.

About 1k/month - 3 year old.
They say it goes down as they grow up, which is kind of true but cost keeps rising so it pretty much stays the same

This probably varies wildly as to where you live or what kind of childcare you want.

In New Orleans, it seems like daycare at schools can be around $15k a year +/-$2k.

If you want a full-time, 45'ish hr/week nanny, plan to spend $33k - $37k.

Not sure what the places that are strictly daycares costs.

ETA: just asked a buddy and it seems like $175-$200/week for daycares / learning centers.

$750/month in Baton Rouge. Got the $50/month discount for the second child, $1450/month. Doesn’t account for the extracurricular activities: music, gymnastics, pizza day. Also, I have to pay additional fee for ‘holiday care’ which are the days surrounding a major holiday. We also have to provide all diapers, wipes, meals and snacks.

Damn. Those are as much as some people's mortgage payments. Glad I don't have any kids.

Home daycare is $750/month. (7am - 4pm)

Son's 3k and 4k preschool was $515/month. (730am - 4pm)

Son's private 5k program is $810/month. (6am - 5pm but we'll only use it 730 - 4)

During the school year it is $370/wk. We have our daughter there after elementary and our son is there all day. Right now it is $410 because they are both there all day during the summer. That is cheaper than it used to be when they were smaller. The most we ever paid in one year was ~$23k for the year.

Makes me feel better. The hospital my wife is employed at offers a top notch child care center. They want $600 per month. This is up here in S.C. mind you.
