His entire narrative is that he mislabeled an account on a spreadsheet, and did not account for the 8 billion dollars of missing money

He lost enough billionaires enough money that he will eventually have to spend some time in prison if they figure out how to get him out of the Bahamas.

More likely scenario is he just laundered it for them. It’s a big tax write off, total capital loss is 100% unlimited. Meanwhile ole SBF mixed up all the funds and let withdrawals happen prior to chapter 11. All he has to do is mail a couple jump drives. At least that’s one scenario.
