More detail
2025 revenue grew 12-fold to nearly $4.6 billion, while its operating loss widened to $8.06 billion.
Its reported net loss was nearly $42 billion, though roughly $34 billion of that came from an accounting charge tied to prior financing. Compute and infrastructure spending tripled to $7.33 billion.
Two customers made up nearly 25% of total revenue, and Anthropic warned that "many of its largest clients were not locked into long-term contracts and could cut or stop spending."
The IPO is expected to value Anthropic near $2 trillion, and is likely to be pushed to after the US midterm elections.

Just remind me to buy puts the day after options come out.

I’d bet most is salesforce related. Benioff’s been shilling the integration relentlessly.

I use Claude everyday. Probably sit this one out since will own it passively though index funds.

I’ll say it again. My appraisal of the frontier lab industry indicates a combined value of ~$0.

Been known for a while, the crazy part is Anthropics financials are much better than OpenAIs.
They need these IPOs to continue their endless spending, as they are running out of investors.

quote:This is the business model in a nutshell. It’s inescapable unless you have an existing ecosystem that you are embedding the models into. OpenAI and Anthropic have been trying to retroactively create the ecosystem but they can’t compete with Google or Meta on that front or in terms of capital.

Anthropic on Anthropic:
A reasonable valuation for Anthropic today is probably $200-400B — which is still 43-87x revenue and still insane by historical standards, but reflects a genuine category-defining AI platform with the leading safety positioning, enterprise adoption, and a technology moat that compounds with each model generation.
The $2T number is a venture-style terminal value being applied today rather than discounted back appropriately. It assumes Anthropic wins, the category is as large as electricity, and the current competitive advantage proves durable against Google, OpenAI, Meta, and Chinese labs simultaneously. Each of those assumptions is contestable.
