Mine went up from $2700 to $3900.. 45%

EBR

I can't take another increase like this next year. There has to be some relief. Feel like I am paying for everyone elses new roof or claim.

You are. All those Hudco ads on 104.5 aren’t going to pay for themselves.

Absolutely rampant fraud in the roofing industry and we all know it

Found out that a few insurance companies were writing coverages the day before Ida landed, and those were fully covered. Pay your one month and receive a brand new roof. Wonder why all of these insurance companies are leaving the state.

How does that work with a 3% ($15,000) wind deductible

There were multiple companies offering $1000, $2500 or 1% hurricane deductible options in south LA before Ida.

Still not sure I believe that several companies were still writing the day before Ida hit. The forecast cone nailed Ida's track at least 3-4 days ahead of time and had it predicted to make landfall as a hurricane. They just didn't predict it to intensify so quickly. A tropical storm in the forecast is enough to make most carriers put a storm moratorium in place.

We closed on our first house 3 days before Katrina, 10 days later we had a check that covered a new roof and fix all the electrical damage because the meter was ripped out. I was surprised how easy the process was, but that was also the beginning of the end of for home owners insurance in Louisiana.

I very much doubt this.

We were a split policy for wind/hail and fire/theft. We had farm bureau and citizens. Had we not changed total would have been like almost 8000 iirc

We got quotes from Cajun Underwriting and Elevate .. we have a HO3 now with more coverage as well as more complete coverage for $4000

Now. Let’s hope nothing happens and we don’t have to test it out. Either way we felt like we had crap options so we opted to pay the less at amount of money for possibly the same crap should we have to file a claim.

Edit to say that we did have to replace our roof before we could get the policy written. But it was time anyway. And no we didn’t claim hail damage which maybe we could have? Just paid for it.
